Welcome to this space in between night and day.
Sometimes,
Like today,
It is gray as dark turns to light.
This is the in-between time,
A time to pause briefly and acknowledge the transition,
And especially the twin feelings of loss and anticipation that come with any transition.
Infuse this pause with silence.
Soak this time with the motionless presence of stillness.
As we screen out distraction,
A kind of implosion takes place inward.
Inward we travel,
Bringing silence to our innermost being.
As you come slowly out of your silence,
Come to your body.
Bring consciousness to your physical form.
Wake your body up,
Your feet,
Your legs,
And middle.
Wake up your chest,
Arms,
And head.
Wake up your face,
Stretch,
Wiggle,
And make different faces for yourself.
Likewise,
Try on different feelings to find the one that is accurate for this moment.
Is it annoyance and anger?
Is it grief and sadness?
Is it ecstasy and lightness?
Let honesty decide so that the true feeling is acknowledged and expressed.
What never sleeps is spirit,
Though we may think it is sleeping.
But even when our body is asleep,
Our spirit roams to influence and affect others and ourselves.
Right now,
Pause to think of a friend and invite their spirit to visit you.
Notice that it happens instantaneously.
May you move through the many pauses and transitions of this day with grace.
