This is a grounding meditation.
I would like you to find a comfortable position.
If you are seated in a chair,
I would like you to sit upright with your feet planted firmly on the ground.
If seated on a floor cushion,
Find a comfortable position and ensure that your spine is upright.
Now I'd like you to visualize the energy center that is present just at the base of your spine.
This is your root chakra.
This chakra honors the earth and is associated with our sense of safety and security.
This is the first chakra and serves as a foundation for opening the six chakras above.
Some people may experience it as a glowing orb or spinning disk.
Others may experience it as a dancing light.
Allow your mind to create whatever representation or image that feels right for you.
As you visualize your chakra,
Take a moment to notice any associated feelings or sensations.
Do you notice any particular colors?
Do you notice any warmth or expansion?
Do you notice any pleasant or unpleasant sensations?
Do you notice any particular emotions?
Hold that vision of your chakra in your mind and now focus on your breath.
With each exhalation,
I'd like you to drop your consciousness further down into your root chakra.
Breathe in,
Breathe out.
As you are grounding down into your chakra,
I would like you to call a second vision to mind.
This vision is of a chord of light,
Perhaps the same color as your root chakra or perhaps a different color.
Visualize this chord of light emanating directly from your root chakra and growing down toward the center of the earth,
Rooting your physical body into the earth beneath you.
Imagine your chord rooting through the floor and into the earth's soil.
Notice the feeling of being connected directly energetically with the soil,
Then the rocks and the water beneath the rocks.
Allow the grounding chord to grow further down through the rocks and minerals of the earth and finally into the central molten core.
Allow your body to energetically connect with the brilliant warm energy that is at the center of the planet.
Allow yourself to feel grounded,
Connected and centered.
Breathe in,
Breathe out.
Do you notice anything that seems out of the blue?
Do you notice any kind of lingering emotions,
Doubts,
Fears that may be standing in the way of being fully present?
So,
I'd like you to imagine the chord expanding in diameter to being about the width of your hips.
I'd like you to imagine the chord expanding in diameter to being about the width of your hips.
And with each exhalation,
Visualize sending anything that is not a part of you out of your body,
Down the chord and into the center of the earth.
It may be feelings of resentment,
Feelings of anger,
Feelings of jealousy or even feelings of fear.
I'd like you to imagine the chord expanding in diameter to being about the width of your hips.
It may be feelings of resentment,
Feelings of anger,
Feelings of jealousy or even feelings of sadness.
With each exhale,
You are letting go of anything that no longer serves you.
And you are letting go of the earth.
Breathe in,
Breathe out.
Now,
We're just going to stay here for a few moments,
Breathing in and breathing out at a pace that feels comfortable to you.
