Welcome.
Today we're going to be doing a tapping for sleep.
Tapping is a powerful exercise that utilizes acupressure points as well as speaking internal dialogue out loud.
What you're going to do in this exercise is just follow along with me on the acupressure points,
Which will be the eyebrow point,
The side of the eye,
Under the eye,
The top of the lip,
Under the lip,
Along the collarbone,
And the top of the head.
And as you're tapping on these points,
I will be making a statement and you will repeat after me out loud as you follow along.
Most of us struggle with sleep at one time or another,
Whether that's falling asleep or staying asleep.
I'm hoping this tapping will help you to be able to get into a nice relaxed place.
I would suggest maybe even doing this as a proactive step before you attempt to sleep.
And if you wake up in the middle of the night,
It's perfectly appropriate to do it then as well.
So let's get started.
I'd ask you to start by taking a rating of 0 to 10,
Thinking about your sleep,
How upsetting is not sleeping right now for you.
Just making a note of that number before we start.
And scanning your body now,
Just noticing where you feel any tension when you think about sleeping and make note of that.
And then we're going to begin by tapping on the side of the hand.
So even though I have struggled with sleep in the past,
I deeply and completely love and accept myself.
Even though I have struggled with sleeping in the past,
I deeply and completely love and accept myself.
Even though I am struggling with my sleep,
I deeply and completely love and accept myself.
And now the eyebrow point.
It is so frustrating when I can't get to sleep.
And now the other side of the eye.
I am tossing and turning,
And my mind is racing under the eye.
There's so much stress in my body.
I can't believe that I can't sleep anymore.
I am counting the hours left that I have to sleep.
I'm worried about what's going to happen if I'm not rested tomorrow.
So many thoughts running through my mind.
I just can't seem to relax.
I am replaying the day over and over again.
My body feels restless.
And I'm so frustrated that I can't sleep.
And the more frustrated I get,
The harder it is to sleep.
I can't seem to quiet my mind.
I am so overwhelmed with what's happening right now.
I lay down to sleep,
Feeling exhausted,
But then can't turn my mind off.
I'm replaying the day over and over again.
I know it doesn't do me any good to be laying here awake and thinking,
But I can't seem to stop.
I'm getting angry that I can't sleep.
I'm anxious that I can't sleep.
I'm worried about what's coming.
Even though I can't sleep,
I know my body knows how to relax.
What if I could remind my body how to relax?
It feels so good to let go of the day.
I have never looked back at a time in my life and thought that staying awake solved any problems.
It has never worked for me to stay awake.
To solve problems.
I would like to choose a different way.
I remind my body that it can relax.
It is safe for my mind to relax.
I can let go of the day and handle it tomorrow.
And as if there is anything that can't wait until tomorrow,
Then I trust I will spring into action.
But I know that isn't true most of the time.
So I welcome my sleep.
It feels so good to close my eyes.
It feels so good to have my legs and arms relax into the bed.
I am excited for the night ahead.
I look forward to sleeping.
And the beautiful dreams that will come.
I look forward to waking up in the morning and realizing I did not wake up.
It feels so good to get a good night's sleep.
I am excited for bedtime.
I am excited to change this pattern in my life.
I sleep like a baby.
My body is peaceful and relaxed.
Now taking a nice big deep breath in.
Letting it go.
Tune back into your body now and see whether any of those feelings of tension have released.
And go ahead and rate yourself again on a scale of 0 to 10 about how you're feeling about your sleep.
0 is no disturbance.
10 is the highest.
And see if that number has come down.
If not,
I invite you to do this tapping again.
And I hope that you will do this tapping in the morning.
Or in the middle of the night.
Or just before you go to bed.
Thank you so much for spending your precious time with me.
And we'll see you on the next video.
