Let's do an exercise to help you listen to your inner voice.
The quiet voice each of us have inside of us can help us to know who we really are.
It can even help us find answers when we find it hard to make a decision.
I would like you to find a quiet spot where you can lie down on your back.
Close your eyes if you can.
If you prefer to keep your eyes open,
Make sure that they are relaxed.
Now let's take a few deep breaths together to relax.
Try to breathe deeply into your belly so that you can feel your belly push outward as you breathe in.
When you breathe out,
Your belly relaxes back down again.
Take a slow deep breath in and breathe slowly out again.
Breathe slowly in and slowly out again.
Now let's do this together one last time.
Breathe slowly in and slowly out again.
I would like you to continue breathing slowly and deeply into your belly on your own.
Now feel your whole body relax.
Your toes and your feet are relaxed.
Your lower legs are becoming more and more relaxed.
Your upper legs are soft and relaxed.
Relax your back and feel your shoulders becoming soft and relaxed too.
Relax your chest.
Relax your arms and your hands.
Relax your fingers.
Make sure that your neck is relaxed.
Relax your jaw and your face.
Now I would like you to spend a few moments listening to everything that you can hear around you.
Listen to all of the different sounds around you.
Perhaps you can hear birds or the wind,
Cars driving by,
Rain or voices.
Quietly listen to everything that you can hear around you.
Next I would like you to focus on what you can hear inside of your body.
Can you hear your heart beating?
Or perhaps your tummy is rumbling?
Can you hear yourself breathing?
Let's quietly listen to the sounds of our own bodies.
Now listen even closer.
Are there any feelings coming up for you right now?
What are these feelings that you are feeling at the moment?
Try to name them if you can.
Our feelings help us to connect with who we really are.
Knowing what we are feeling helps us to understand ourselves better.
It is good for us to listen to our own feelings.
Your feelings can tell you a lot.
Your feelings matter.
Now spend a few moments thinking about what your feelings are telling you.
Perhaps they are telling you that you need to talk to someone about what you are feeling.
Perhaps they are giving you an answer to something that you've been wondering about.
Perhaps your feelings are telling you about something that you need.
Perhaps you need a hug or a walk outside.
Or perhaps you want to express what you are feeling by drawing a picture.
It is okay for you to trust your own feelings.
Your feelings are your inner voice.
When you connect with what you are feeling,
It helps you to know what your inner voice is trying to tell you.
When you are ready,
You can start to gently move your fingers and your toes.
Lift your arms above your head and stretch your entire body.
You can get up slowly when you feel that you are ready.
Remember that you can do this exercise again whenever you feel that you need to connect with your own inner voice.
