Welcome,

I'm Heidi.

For today's meditation we will mindfully rewrite the old stories we have been telling ourselves about our body and learn to be a better friend to ourselves.

Please have a journal and pen close by.

Come to a comfortable seated position with your feet connected to the earth.

Feel the earth beneath your feet.

Walk your awareness up your legs and to your hips.

Is there any tension in your hips or in your lower back?

If there is,

See if you can soften and relax these areas.

Walk your awareness up your spine,

Sitting tall.

Soften your shoulders away from your ears and then bring your awareness to your breath.

Feel your breath fill and expand your lungs as you inhale and soften as you exhale.

Inhale,

Exhale.

When your mind wanders,

Bring your awareness back to your breath.

Think back to the last time you looked at yourself in the mirror.

What was the first thing you said to yourself?

Were they kind words?

How many times a day do you speak to your body like this?

What message is your body receiving from your thoughts?

You know this old negative message you have been saying to your body is not helpful or kind but don't be hard on yourself for doing this.

How can you not think like this?

Everywhere you look there are messages telling you that you can only be happy when you look a certain way.

These messages have been consistent and relentless.

Slowly over time they have taken away your power and made you feel less than.

Today these negative messages lose their grip on you.

Today you will rewrite the message that your body hears from you.

Today you will take care of the most important relationship in your life,

Your relationship with yourself.

Only when you start to honor,

Protect and nourish your body as it is now,

Only then will you find true happiness.

So let's start writing this new message.

Please open your eyes and pick up your journal and pen.

I will be asking you three questions.

Without overthinking write down the answers to these questions in your journal.

Write down what you like about your physical body.

Now write down all the things that your body does for you.

Finally write down all the different ways you add value to the world by being exactly who you are.

Put down your journal and pen and come back to a comfortable seat with your eyes closed and bring your awareness back to your breath.

This might be challenging to do at first.

The old message has been ingrained into your body so it makes sense that changing the script will feel awkward and unnatural.

But it is in these moments of discomfort where real growth occurs and you are worth this hard work.

Your relationship with yourself is important enough to take this time to give it a new message of love and kindness.

You add value to the world and to the people around you.

You are good enough just the way you are.

The next time you walk past a mirror and look at yourself notice what you're saying to your body.

If your old message comes up gently change the script using a phrase or kind word you wrote in your journal today about your body instead.

Give it a compliment,

Thank it and smile.

Bring your awareness back to your feet on the ground.

Notice your legs,

Sit bones,

Torso,

Shoulders,

Neck,

Face.

Take a slow breath in and then sigh it out.

Thank you so much for joining me today.

I hope you have a wonderful day and I hope we get to do this again soon.

Be well and namaste.

Loved this meditation! I did the journaling prompts in my minds eye throughout this meditation and it was still just as powerful. Thank you 🙏🏽
