Welcome back and thank you for joining us at the meditation station.

Today is Earth Day.

As we sit down for meditation we take a moment not to only reconnect with ourselves but to reconnect with nature and celebrate Mother Earth,

All of her creatures and all that she provides for.

We want to first begin by finding a comfortable posture,

Whether we are sitting outside or if we're inside perhaps sitting on a chair lying down.

Just allow yourself to be relaxed and unrestricted as we work to center ourselves and cultivate a sense of mindfulness.

So first becoming aware of your connection of your body to the floor or the earth beneath you.

Feeling and accepting that support.

Giving yourself permission to begin to relax.

Notice where you might be holding any tension in not only the body but the mind and allow yourself to begin to let go of any stress,

Any dis-ease,

Any expectation,

Any anticipations.

Allow that to simply drift off to the side for the next few moments as we allow ourselves to simply be present.

Begin to notice the sensation of your breath as you breathe in and out.

Feeling how the body responds and moves to each breath that you take.

Feeling first an expansion followed by a contraction.

And allow the breath to find its own natural rhythm.

Allowing yourself to get further grounded and rooted down towards the earth beneath you.

Sinking into that connection.

Envisioning that you yourself have roots expanding from yourself deep down through the surface of the earth anchoring you.

The earth is soft,

Supportive.

Begin to imagine yourself seated in the most beautiful place in nature.

Surrounded with lush trees,

Flowing water,

Creatures both big and small.

Going back to a time when we ourselves were small.

When we would experience the magnificence of Mother Nature.

As we grow older we lose some of that magic,

That wonderment of getting lost in the outdoors.

We found it easy to feel a connection to all other living things.

Having conversations with the creatures we would come into contact with.

With the bugs,

The sounds,

The awe of the hidden images we would see in the clouds and the trees swaying with the wind.

Begin to try to recapture some of that magic.

Picturing yourself connected and lost in the most beautiful magnificent place.

Resting with ease knowing that you have nowhere else to be or nothing else to do but reside in this peaceful place and be present to the sounds,

The scents,

Perhaps a breeze,

The warmth from the Sun or the glow of the evening stars or the full moon.

We honor Mother Nature and our Mother Earth today and all that she provides.

All living things connected and working together for harmony.

As you allow yourself to sink deep down into the Earth's surface with those roots expanding outward,

Finding those connections,

Feeling that the entire Earth is a living,

Breathing organism and being.

Nourishing,

Growing,

Evolving.

Feeling the Earth's heartbeat with each breath in and out for perfect balance,

Perfect harmony.

Envisioning a world where everyone and everything on Earth was at peace and in harmony.

Disease and greed a thing of the past.

Animals free to live and thrive wherever they choose.

And all people of the world working together to take care of our Mother and her oceans,

Her soil,

Her forests,

Her creatures,

Her mountains.

Only clean rain falling from the sky.

Continue to reside in this peaceful,

Quiet space.

But now envision that you're sitting or lying under a tree.

The most beautiful,

Majestic,

Wise tree you can imagine.

Your roots now connected to the roots of this tree underneath the surface of the Earth.

And like synapses of the brain,

There's now this open connection of communication to not only this wise,

Beautiful tree,

But a connection to everything else that the Earth has to offer.

And take some time here to reside in this place,

Open to that line of communication and connection.

Allowing yourself to be present and open to both old truths and new,

To wisdom,

To comfort,

And to peace.

Thank you.

Allow yourself to feel fully supported.

By the Earth beneath you.

Perfectly comforted and sheltered by the canopy of the branches and the leaves above you.

Allow yourself to begin to open yourself up to an intention that you would like to bring away from this place today.

Creating your own mantra or course of action.

A declaration to yourself to take back out into the world.

And allow that intention to draw into yourself with each breath in.

Thank you.

Allow yourself to take a lasting look all around you.

That wonderment of nature.

All the lush trees.

The creatures with you,

Both big and small.

The deep rooted tree that you reside under.

And slowly,

With eyes still closed,

Begin your descent back to your space,

Back to your body,

And back to your breath.

Feeling your connection to the floor and the Earth beneath you.

Bringing slight movement back to the fingers,

Back to the toes.

Reconnecting the body with the mind.

And I'll offer you a cleansing breath to seal and release your intention and release this practice today.

Drawing in a nice deep breath in through the nose.

And exhale through the mouth.

And thank you for taking this time out to celebrate Earth Day.

Mother Nature and Mother Earth and all that they offer and protect.

And I'll leave you with the Sanskrit mantra,

Loka,

Samastha,

Sukhino,

Bhavan tu.

May all living beings be happy and free.
