My Bodhi presents the Emotional Healing Series.
Forgiveness frees the resentments that live within our heart,
Mind,
And soul.
Resentments block our ability to live a healthy,
Fulfilling life.
Resentments block our experience of love,
Abundance,
And joy.
Forgiveness is the medicine.
Forgiveness is a gateway to all that we desire,
Freeing us from pain and scarcity.
It is the ultimate act of love to forgive.
Love for ourselves and others.
It's a powerful,
Energetic resonance.
Find a comfortable position,
Either sitting or lying down,
And take a deep breath in through your nose and exhale slowly,
Inhaling and exhaling,
Becoming aware of your body and centering in it.
As you continue to breathe deeply and slowly,
Bring your awareness to any feelings of hurt or resentment that you may be carrying within you.
Acknowledge them without judgment,
But also recognize that holding on to these negative emotions can weigh you down and prevent you from experiencing peace and happiness.
See yourself standing on the shore of a serene lake.
The water is calm and its surface reflects the clear blue sky above.
This lake represents your inner self,
Your heart and soul.
Now imagine that every hurtful experience,
Every resentment and every painful memory is represented by stones that you are carrying in a bag.
Feel the weight of the bag on your shoulders and notice how it affects your posture and your ability to move freely.
Take a moment to acknowledge that these stones are heavy burdens that have been weighing you down.
They have kept you from fully embracing joy and love in your life,
But you have the power to release them now,
To let go and forgive.
As you stand by the shore of this lake,
Understand that forgiveness is not about condoning or excusing the actions of others.
Rather,
It is about setting yourself free from the pain that binds you.
Forgiveness is a gift you give to yourself.
Now take each stone,
One by one,
Out of this bag.
Hold it in your hand and as you do,
Silently say the name of the person or situation you need to forgive.
Allow any emotions that arise to be acknowledged and felt.
Now as you're ready,
Take a deep breath in and as you exhale,
Toss the stones into the lake.
Watch as it creates ripples on the water's surface and then sinks to the bottom.
Feel the weight of being lifted from your shoulders as you release the burdens of each stone,
Letting go of the pain and resentment associated with each one.
As you continue to release the stones,
Repeat these affirmations silently or out loud.
I forgive you and I release the pain you caused me.
I forgive myself for holding on to this pain for so long.
I am choosing to set myself free and embrace healing.
I forgive the reality that has created my current resentment.
Thank you for my ability to forgive.
Thank you.
Feel the lightness and relief that come with each act of forgiveness,
With each stone.
Feel your heart opening and expanding as you let go of the past.
As the ripples fade,
So do these resentments.
Now take a moment to reflect on the person you were before carrying these burdens and the person you can become by releasing them.
Embrace the newfound freedom and the peace that forgiveness brings.
In this moment,
Surrounded by the beauty of the lake and the vastness of the sky,
Let forgiveness be an act of love and compassion for yourself.
Allow yourself to be filled with love,
Understanding,
And acceptance.
Whenever you feel the weight of those burdens creeping back in,
Come back to this lake in your mind and remind yourself of the freedom and lightness that forgiveness offers.
Keep taking stones from your bag and releasing them and your resentment into the lake until your bag is empty and you have forgiven all who have hurt you.
Make sure you forgive yourself for allowing yourself to be hurt and wounded.
I will now be quiet and return at the end to bring you back from the lake of forgiveness.
Take a deep breath in and exhale slowly.
Bring yourself back into your body and take a deep breath in and exhale slowly.
Wiggle your fingers and toes and move your body bringing awareness back into your physical self.
Carry the feeling of forgiveness and freedom with you as you go about your day.
Remember that forgiveness is a journey and it is okay if it takes time.
Be patient and kind to yourself as you continue to heal and let go.
When you are ready,
Gently open your eyes and return to the present moment carrying the gift of forgiveness with you wherever you go.
