Every new beginning starts with a yes. In this talk, Grayson Kohl shares how one clear decision set a wave of creative momentum into motion, leading to new work, opportunities, and growth. Through personal reflection and the wisdom of "The Artist's Way" by Julia Cameron, this talk invites you to notice where clarity and action meet in your own life, and how saying yes opens the flow of movement and support that follows. If you'd like to take this reflection deeper, listen to the companion mediation "Move With Your Yes (Meditation)", a premium track aimed to help you feel that yes-energy in your body and bring it into motion.

Hey there,

This is Grayson Cole,

Thanks for being here.

I've been thinking a lot lately about how much power lives inside a single choice.

How every decision we make,

Big or small,

Starts setting things in motion.

Sometimes we wait for a sign before we move.

But what if the sign is the decision itself?

Today's reflection is about that energy,

The kind that builds when clarity meets action.

It's about learning to listen to your yes,

And trusting it enough to move.

So wherever you are,

Take a breath,

Let the noise settle,

And feel yourself arrive.

I've always been a writer.

It's how I make sense of life,

Through words,

Rhythm,

And reflection.

It's how I stay connected to what is true for me.

For years,

I've shared pieces of my writing here and there,

Mostly through my songs,

Performances,

And moments when the words naturally found their way out.

But a while back,

I began feeling something deeper,

A pull to share in a more intentional way.

Not just in passing or performance,

But consistently,

With purpose.

At first,

That idea felt big.

It was exciting,

But also uncomfortable.

Because with every new calling comes a wave of questions.

How would I do this?

What will I share that matters?

Who will listen?

Who will care?

I remember sitting with those questions,

Trying to make sense of them,

When what I really was doing was stalling.

Waiting for permission.

Waiting for certainty.

Waiting for someone to tell me it would be worth it.

But life doesn't tend to hand out permission slips.

It gives us invitations,

Nudges,

And waits to see if we'll say yes.

For me,

That yes came during a simple moment.

Walking outside,

Thinking about community and how I could connect more deeply through my work.

Out of nowhere,

Or maybe from somewhere,

The idea dropped in.

Start a newsletter.

My first reaction wasn't confidence,

It was doubt.

I laughed a little,

Actually.

A newsletter.

This sounded like so much work.

Like something real writers did,

Or teams did.

Not something I'd take on alone.

But the idea lingered.

It had a pulse.

Every time I thought about it,

I felt this familiar spark in my chest.

A soft,

But steady,

Yes.

Eventually,

I realized the only thing left to do was listen.

So I did.

That yes set everything in motion.

It became a monthly publication.

It led to new articles,

New collaborations,

And even the beginnings of a book that is now unfolding.

Each of those was built on the first yes.

A decision made in trust before I could see the path.

Looking back,

I can see how much power that one moment carried.

Because that yes wasn't just a choice,

It was an opening.

It allowed all that followed to take form.

Julia Cameron,

The author of The Artist's Way,

Writes that when we move in a direction of our dreams,

The universe moves with us.

She calls it divine collaboration,

A partnership between our willingness and the creative energy of life itself.

And that's what it feels like when you finally say yes to something that's true for you.

It's not that everything becomes easy,

It's that things start to move.

You start to notice support showing up where it wasn't before.

You get new ideas from nowhere.

The next right person appears.

And it's that flow,

That co-creative rhythm,

That only happens when we're in motion with our yes.

I think of this as an agreement.

Life meets us at the point of our movement.

So if you've been sitting with something,

An idea,

A desire,

A small pull toward change,

Maybe this is your reminder.

You don't need to have the whole plan.

You don't need to know where it leads.

You just need to recognize when your yes is ready and move with it.

Take one honest step and let that step create the next.

You'll feel the difference between forcing something and flowing with something.

The energy tells you.

I've learned that decisions are living things.

When you choose clearly,

Life starts to rearrange itself around that choice.

When you hesitate,

Energy stalls.

But when you decide,

Really decide,

You set something into motion that's far bigger than you can imagine in that moment.

That's why saying yes matters.

It doesn't guarantee success or comfort.

It opens the channel for everything else to move.

Think of your own yes right now.

Maybe it's creative.

Maybe it's relational.

Maybe it's something as simple as taking better care of yourself.

Whatever it is,

Listen for it.

Notice how it feels in the body.

That quiet spark.

That little rush of truth.

The nudge.

That is the energy that creates worlds.

That's your yes.

If you'd like to carry this feeling forward,

I recorded a meditation called Move With Your Yes.

This is a short guided meditation to help you connect to that energy and put it into motion.

If you'd like to keep exploring this kind of reflection and community,

Join me for Manifest Monday,

A weekly live session right here on Insight Timer.

This is a space to reconnect with your vision,

Reflect,

And move forward together.

Let's feel that pulse,

That yes inside you,

And when it feels right,

Take the step.

Thanks for tuning in with me today,

And be well.

This was perfect timing as I was sitting on something that I had started and then abruptly stopped because I felt like I didn’t have enough to offer I know now this is exactly what i should do. Put it out there! Stop stalling! It’s never going to be perfect but it will get to whomever needs it. Thank you

Sometimes WE have to make the move first. Then the Universal energy begins. Loved this succinct and profound talk. Thanks so much.
