The Great Beautiful

This long-breathed, deep, melancholy melody always transports me to a place of calm, heavenly peace. Its lyrical passages are emotional, unfolding a beautiful free free-flowing, long poetic narrative through music. This melody has always spoken to me from the deepest parts inside me and from a place far removed from earthly concerns.

This piece is inspired by a passage from Franz Schubert's Symphony No. 9 in C Major, "The Great," specifically the second movement, Andante con moto. I've drawn from measures 93 through 126 of this movement (D.944, II), a passage that is in the public domain and which I consider to be one of the most beautiful ever written. I hope you enjoy!
