This meditation is intended to help you cultivate peace and ease while you're driving in the car.
Your safety is of the utmost importance,
So make sure your eyes are open and on the road at all times,
Both hands on the steering wheel.
It's best if you'll be driving on the same road for an extended period,
Or if you know the route very well so you won't be distracted during the meditation.
When you're ready,
Let's begin.
See if you can make yourself a little more comfortable in your seat.
Maybe you could sit up taller,
Or lean back into your seat,
Perhaps adjusting the angle of your head and neck,
Softening your shoulders down away from the ears,
Relaxing your thighs open,
Softening the muscles of your face.
Let's take three deep breaths to clear some of the energy in your body and mind.
Inhale through the nose,
Expanding your chest and belly.
Exhale out of your mouth with a sigh,
Feeling your body sink a little deeper into your seat.
Inhale through the nose,
Expand your chest,
Fill the body with new energy.
Exhale with a sigh,
Letting go completely.
One more time,
Deep breath in through the nose,
Expand your body,
And exhale with a heavy sigh,
Release any tension or stress you're feeling right now,
And let your breath find a natural pace and rhythm,
Breathing through your nose if that's comfortable.
And once again,
Just checking in with your body,
Noticing if you could soften anywhere,
Inviting your body to feel relaxed and calm while maintaining an upright driving position.
Noticing your feet on the floor and on the pedal.
Noticing your legs touching your seat.
Noticing your back supported.
Noticing the texture and temperature of the steering wheel in your hands.
Noticing the feeling of your clothes resting on your skin.
Feeling the air in your car,
Whether air conditioning,
Windows rolled down,
Or still calm air.
Now that you are fully present in this moment,
Envision that your car is this perfect little energy bubble,
Holding you in a container of peace and positivity.
No matter what any other driver on the road is doing,
No matter where you're headed right now,
You are in this container of beautiful peaceful energy.
No one else's thoughts,
Feelings,
Stress,
Worries,
Or expectations can affect you in your little protective bubble.
Imagine your whole car being filled with this good energy,
Like you're just bathing in warm positive light.
And since your car is moving forward steadily,
It's a great reminder to leave your stress and worries in the past.
If any tension comes up,
You can imagine sending it out your back window,
Out of your bubble of peace,
And coming back to a place of positivity and presence.
Just breathing,
Relaxing,
Enjoying this moment.
Inside the protective bubble of your car,
You can cultivate good energy,
And set an intention for when you've arrived at your destination.
How would you like to show up?
And what are the energies you'd like to bring with you?
Perhaps openness,
Patience,
Or compassion.
Maybe you'd like to remain present when you get out of your car,
Staying connected to your body and your breath.
Take a moment to connect with the intention you'd like to bring with you when you arrive at your destination.
Fill your car with that beautiful intention,
Recalling the warm light you're bathing in here in your protective bubble.
And when you feel filled with this beautiful positive energy,
Let's send some to the cars passing by.
Imagine sending beams of this beautiful light out to the cars next to you,
And passing you on the street.
Imagine their cars being filled with good intentions,
Warm positive light,
Feelings of presence and positivity.
Envision every other driver on the road taking a deep breath and a sigh of relief,
Coming back to the present moment,
Letting their stress and tensions go.
Imagine everyone surrounded in warm loving light,
Feeling at peace,
Feeling hopeful,
Finding compassion for everyone else on the road.
You can continue with this visualization for as long as you'd like,
Or until you arrive at your destination.
Keep breathing peacefully,
Enjoying the moment.
Drive safely,
And enjoy the rest of your day.
