If you've been lying awake at night feeling restless or unable to switch off your mind,
This practice is for you.
This Yoga Nidra for deep sleep will help you fall asleep faster,
Release built-up tension,
And guide you into a state of rest and renewal.
Hi,
I'm Danielle Henry,
Your guide for rest and relaxation,
And I'll be guiding you through this ultimate deep relaxation practice for sleep.
A Yoga Nidra meditation designed to help you improve sleep quality,
Calm your nervous system,
And nurture a deep sense of inner peace.
Make those final adjustments to enhance your comfort and begin this well-earned journey of full body relaxation.
You can practice this in your bed just before sleep.
There's no need to stay awake until the end.
In fact,
You may drift off naturally as your body and mind surrender into stillness.
Let's set up and get ready to go.
Lie down comfortably on your back.
Allow your feet to fall open naturally.
Let your arms rest alongside your body,
Palms facing upward.
Close your eyes and take a moment to adjust so you feel fully supported by your bed,
Your mat,
Or the earth beneath you.
Remind yourself your body is safe.
Your mind can let go.
This is your time to rest.
Nothing else is more important.
Begin now by closing your eyes,
Softening your face,
Relaxing your jaw and your tongue,
And taking a slow,
Deep breath in through the nose and sighing out softly through the mouth,
Letting go of the weight of the day.
Again,
Inhale deeply,
Feel the lungs expand,
The belly rise,
And exhale completely,
Releasing all tension.
One last deep breath in and let it go as if you're exhaling the entire day behind you.
Now allow your breath to return to its natural rhythm,
Steady,
Soft,
And effortless.
You are safe.
You are supported.
You are home.
Bring your awareness now to the points of contact between your body and the surface beneath you.
Feel the back of your head supported,
The shoulders and arms resting heavily,
The spine lengthening down,
The hips,
Thighs,
And legs relaxing deeper into stillness.
Now,
With every exhale,
Feel the body beginning to surrender,
Surrendering to gravity,
A wave of deep relaxation spreading through you.
Soften your forehead.
Smooth the space between your eyebrows.
Let the eyes sink back,
Heavy and peaceful.
Relax the jaw,
The tongue,
And the lips.
Allow the shoulders to drop away from the ears.
The chest opens slightly as the breath moves freely.
The belly rises and falls like gentle ocean waves.
Let go through the hips,
The thighs,
The knees,
The calves,
And the feet,
All releasing into the earth.
Feel your entire body as one unified field of softness,
Completely still,
Completely at ease.
Now,
Imagine yourself lying beneath a vast starlit sky.
The air is cool and still.
The earth beneath you is warm,
Holding you with quiet strength.
Above,
The night stretches endlessly,
A deep velvet canvas sprinkled with soft shimmering stars.
Each star glows like a point of peace,
Tiny sparks of serenity lighting up the darkness.
The moon bathes you in its silver light,
A gentle reminder that rest and renewal are part of life's natural rhythm.
As you breathe in,
Imagine drawing this moonlight into your body.
Cool,
Healing,
And calming.
As you exhale,
Feel any lingering stress or tension drift away,
Dissolving into the vast night sky.
Let this image expand around you,
The night infinite,
Your body weightless,
Your mind spacious and clear.
You are floating in stillness.
You are one with the peace of the night.
Let this stillness deepen with each breath.
The body is resting,
The mind quieting,
The heart softening.
This is the sacred threshold between wakefulness and sleep,
The state of yoga nidra,
The yogic sleep of awareness,
A place of deep healing and restoration.
You are safe to surrender.
You are safe to rest deeply.
You are safe to drift effortlessly into the rhythm of your own breath.
Now,
From this quiet space under the stars,
We'll plant the seed of your sankalpa,
Your heartfelt intention for peace,
Rest,
And renewal.
As you rest beneath the quiet night sky,
Feel the vast stillness around you,
Infinite and calm.
The stars shimmer gently above,
Their soft light reflecting the peaceful glow within your own heart.
Here is this peaceful moment between waking and sleep.
Your mind is open and receptive within the fertile soil.
For planting the seed of your sankalpa,
Your heart's deepest intention.
A sankalpa is not a wish.
It is a statement of truth,
A quiet promise to yourself,
A vibration of your soul's deepest desire for harmony and peace.
Allow the words to arise naturally from your heart.
It may be something like,
I sleep peacefully and wake up refreshed.
My mind is calm.
My body is at ease.
I surrender fully to rest and trust the rhythm of life.
Whatever your intention is,
State it silently in your mind,
Clearly,
Positively,
And in the present tense,
As though it is already true.
Repeat your sankalpa three times,
Feeling each repetition ripple through every cell of your being.
Let the meanings sink deep into the subconscious,
Anchoring peace and renewal within you.
Now,
Let go of the words.
Trust that your intention has been received.
Allow it to rest within your heart.
Like a star shining softly in the vast night sky.
Your body remains still,
Your mind calm,
Your breath gentle and steady from the sacred place of intention.
We will now journey through the body,
Awakening awareness in every part,
So that deep relaxation and restorative sleep can unfold naturally.
Now,
Keeping your awareness anchored in that peaceful,
Star-filled night,
We'll begin to move your attention through the body,
A practice known as the rotation of consciousness.
As you rest here in stillness,
There is nothing to do,
Nothing to fix.
Simply follow the sound of my voice as I guide your awareness from point to point.
Let each area soften as it's named,
Allowing deep relaxation to spread through your entire being.
Begin with the right side of the body.
Bring awareness to your right hand,
Thumb,
Index finger,
Middle finger,
Ring finger,
Little finger,
Palm of the right hand,
Back of the right hand,
Wrist,
Forearm,
Elbow,
Upper arm,
Shoulder,
Right side of the chest,
Right waist,
Right thigh,
Knee,
Ankle,
Heel,
Sole of the right foot,
Top of the right foot,
Big toe,
Second toe,
Third toe,
Fourth toe,
Fifth toe,
The whole right foot,
The entire right side of the body,
Calm,
Soft,
Relaxed.
Now shift your awareness to the left side of the body,
Left hand,
Thumb,
Index finger,
Middle finger,
Ring finger,
Little finger,
Palm of the left hand,
Back of the left hand,
Left wrist,
Forearm,
Elbow,
Shoulder,
Left side of the chest,
Left waist,
Left thigh,
Ankle,
Heel,
Sole of the left foot,
Top of the left foot,
Big toe,
Second toe,
Third toe,
Fourth toe,
Fifth toe,
The whole left foot,
The entire left side of the body,
Calm,
Soft.
Now bring your awareness to the back of the body,
Right shoulder blade,
Left shoulder blade,
Upper back,
Middle back,
Lower back,
Right buttocks,
The entire spine,
From the base of the spine to the neck,
Awareness into the whole spine,
Resting deeply against the earth,
Feel the whole backside of the body now melting downward,
Completely supported,
Relaxed and at peace.
Bring your awareness to the front of the body,
Abdomen rising and falling with each breath,
Gentle rhythm of life,
The chest,
Soft and open,
The heart center glowing faintly,
Like a warm star radiating light through your whole being.
Move awareness to the throat,
To the jaw,
Lips,
Right cheek,
Right ear,
Left ear,
Right eye,
Edges of the eye,
Edges of the left eye,
Right eyebrow,
Left eyebrow,
Space between the eyebrows,
The calm center of the mind,
The forehead,
The crown of the head,
The whole face soft and serene,
The entire head relaxed and still.
Sense your whole body as one,
From the crown of your head to the soles of your feet,
A single field of quiet awareness.
Your entire body resting deeply,
Bathed in the soft glow of the star-lit night above you.
The air is still,
Your body perfectly balanced between heaviness and lightness.
Every muscle,
Every nerve,
Every cell in your being is relaxed.
You are safe.
You are calm.
You are deeply at peace.
Let the body continue to rest,
As your awareness now drifts toward the rhythm of your breath,
The gentle tide that carries you deeper into Yoga Nidra.
Start to feel the awareness of the breath,
The gentle flow of your breath,
The effortless rhythm of the inhale and exhale.
There is no need to control or change it.
Simply observe your breath.
Feel the cool air as it enters through your nostrils and the soft warmth as it leaves.
Each breath,
A whisper of calm.
Each exhale,
A release of the day.
Imagine your breath as a soft wave rolling in and out upon a tranquil shore beneath the moonlight.
With every inhale,
The body expands gently,
Soaking in peace,
Stillness,
Serenity.
With every exhale,
Tension and thought dissolve,
Melting into the quiet night sky.
Begin a slow,
Effortless rhythm.
Inhale for a count of five.
Hold for five.
Exhale for five.
Repeat the cycle two more times.
Inhale one,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five.
Hold five,
Four,
Three,
Two,
One.
Exhale five,
Four,
Three,
Two,
One.
One more time on your own.
As you breathe,
Visualize starlight flowing in with each inhale.
Cool,
Luminous energy filling your lungs and heart.
And as you exhale,
See that light spreading through your entire body,
Softly illuminating every cell,
Every corner of your being.
Your body breathes.
Your mind rests.
You are the witness.
Awake within the stillness of Yoga Nidra,
Bathed in peace,
Surrounded by stars.
If the mind drifts,
Return softly to your breath.
Inhale peace.
Exhale release.
Let your breath become so gentle,
So subtle,
That it feels as though the night itself is breathing through you.
The stars rising and falling with each rhythm.
The entire universe breathing you into rest.
Now,
From this quiet,
Luminous space within,
Return to your Sankalpa,
Your heartfelt intention.
Bring it back into your awareness.
See your Sankalpa written across the night sky,
Each word glowing like soft silver light.
I sleep peacefully and wake up refreshed.
My mind is calm and my body is at ease.
I surrender fully to deep healing rest.
Whichever intention you chose earlier,
Repeat it now three times,
Silently to yourself,
Feeling it resonate through your entire being.
Let each repetition become softer,
Until it merges with the rhythm of your breath,
Becoming one with the stillness surrounding you.
Trust that your Sankalpa has been heard,
That the seed has been planted deep within the fertile soil of your subconscious mind.
It will blossom naturally through the peace of sleep,
Through the calm of each new dawn.
Now,
There is nothing more to do,
No effort to make.
Simply rest.
Let your awareness dissolve into the gentle waves of breath,
The stars above glowing softly in your mind's eye.
You are floating in vast stillness,
Safe,
Supported,
And at peace.
Your body is heavy with relaxation,
Your mind is quiet and still,
And you are ready for deep restorative sleep.
May this Yoganidra for deep sleep bring you tranquility through the night and renewal with the morning light.
If sleep has not yet come,
Let my voice fade naturally into silence.
Trust that your body and mind know the way.
You are exactly where you need to be.
May you rest deeply and awaken refreshed.
Namaste.
