Welcome to the art of listening.
My name is Genevieve and I will be guiding you through this meditation.
The intention of this meditation is for deep inner listening.
The kind of listening that brings intimacy and understanding.
Meditation can often feel overwhelming so please offer yourself the gentleness and the patience it takes for your practice.
Find a comfortable seat or lie down onto the ground.
Start to close the eyes down.
As you close your eyes from external senses start to open up your hearing.
Begin to listen to all of the sounds that surround you.
Everything that you hear those layers of sounds.
Notice if you feel agitated or frustrated by the busyness around you.
Or do you feel a sense of peace and calm?
So noises can actually help us deepen our meditative state bringing more awareness into our presence.
As you listen to the noises that you hear first within your space then begin to stretch your hearing to outside of this immediate surrounding.
Extend your awareness further to the noises that arise outside of this room.
The noises that arise and dissolve.
Pay attention to the sounds that are around you.
Paying attention with intention to the sounds around you listening deeply.
Now rather than being attached to the sound rather than imagining just noticing listen and move on.
Understanding that there is always this living vibration this change in action in motion.
So acknowledging this opportunity to sit and simply listen to the life that surrounds you.
Listening to everything that is happening around you.
Welcome the messiness the chaos welcome the noise or the silence.
Welcome everything into your meditation.
Not resisting or fighting but instead accepting all that this moment has to offer.
Begin to now focus your awareness to the sound of your breath.
Listen to the sound of your breath and the sensation of your whole body breathing.
Feeling the air touching the very tip of your nose.
The soft and subtle sound of your breath entering and leaving you.
Now noticing the sounds within you.
Notice the physical sounds.
And now start to notice the sounds within you.
The physical sounds.
And now start to travel deeper listening to the inner dialogue of your thoughts.
Pay attention to your thoughts again without becoming attached or judging.
Just listening with openness and full acceptance.
With love and gentleness.
As you bring awareness to your thoughts we understand that we are constantly giving power to our mind depending on what we are thinking.
So slowly shifting those habitual tendencies by simply listening.
You can see if these thoughts are serving you in this moment.
Now again practicing patience.
Understanding that meditation is one that can be quite challenging and difficult.
So taking this time for yourself just to honor that moment to pause to feel and to listen.
