Welcome to this meditation and visualization.
My name is Gemma Brown and I will be guiding you through this short practice.
The purpose of this practice is to help you and support you transition.
From one state to another.
From busy.
To calm.
So take a few moments to settle in.
To get comfortable in either a seated position.
Where you can fully relax.
For lying down.
On a bed or on the floor.
And as you begin to.
.
.
Relax your body.
Start to Listen to the sounds around you.
Starting to pay attention to those sounds that might be in the room with you.
Or those a bit further away.
Start to feel your breath as it moves your body.
And simply notice how you're breathing today.
Let's take three breaths to fully arrive here.
Taking a nice long inhale through the nose.
And exhale through the mouth.
And again,
Inhaling deeply through the nose.
And letting go through the mouth.
Finally!
Inhale.
Deeply through the nose,
Soaking up all of the air into the lungs.
And then let it go.
And just continue to breathe normally.
Arriving here,
Just letting everything be exactly as it is.
You might start to notice your shoulders relax a little bit down your back.
Your jaw softened.
Your brow relax.
Your hands relax,
Resting in your lap.
Simply soften.
And maybe in this invitation to soften.
You start to realize the weight.
Of what you have been carrying.
And with every exhale,
You soften a little bit more.
Loosening,
Releasing.
Grounding.
You allow the surface that you're on.
To carry you.
And to begin this visualization.
I invite you to.
.
.
Imagine that you are sitting by the side of a river.
Any river.
You're sitting on the bank.
You might be able to reach your hand out and just touch the water gently,
Experiencing it flow through your fingers.
It's peaceful and calm.
You listen to the sounds around.
Nature's music,
Birdsong.
Trees and leaves.
The wind.
You notice the ripples in the water.
Making a little pattern on the surface.
You notice how the river gently flows along.
Without pushing.
Without straining.
Water just flowing with ease.
And where you're sitting,
You look down and you notice you're holding a small bag.
A small bag that's quite heavy.
You open up.
This bag.
And any side you notice.
Some rubble.
Different kinds,
Some small stones,
Smooth to the touch.
And some larger rocks.
Maybe a little bit rough and craggy.
There's also some sticks and twigs.
All contained within this bag that you've been carrying.
And it's actually quite heavy.
You'd like to let some of that go.
You realise this isn't yours to carry.
And so one by one you start taking each item,
Each stone or rock,
Out of the bag.
And cast it into the water.
The stick floats on by on the surface downstream.
Some of the stones.
Fall down,
Down into the depths of the riverbed.
You can no longer see them.
You continue taking items slowly out of the bag.
And releasing them.
Watching them.
Move away.
Being carried away.
Each item here represents.
Something you've been carrying this week.
Something that's perhaps not yours to carry.
Maybe there's a feeling or emotion.
No longer serves you.
It could be somebody else's feeling or emotion.
Other people's demands or expectations.
A fraught exchange that's lingered with you.
Tension or guilt.
The busyness,
The rushing.
You notice you can let some of that go.
You keep taking things out of the bag,
Releasing them into the river,
Watching them float away.
Feeling no longer attached to them,
Loosening your grip.
You notice how much lighter you feel.
And then the bag is empty.
You can sit up a little bit taller.
You feel more connected to the ground.
You feel more connected to your heart.
And your intuition.
You take a deep breath in.
And you sigh it out.
You can go far without all the extra baggage that you've been carrying.
You're free to go on your way.
And listen deeply to your heart and your wisdom.
Now as we prepare to come back.
You take another three deep breaths,
Filling up your lungs on your inhale.
Letting go on your exhale.
And another deep inhale.
And exhalation,
Releasing your breath,
Releasing tension.
Releasing anything that no longer serves you.
And finally.
.
.
Another deep inhale.
And letting go of your exhale,
Clearing out.
Everything that you no longer need.
When you're ready,
You can begin to bring some movement back.
Wiggling your toes and your fingers.
Maybe rolling through the shoulders.
And as you're ready.
You can open your eyes.
