If you're feeling ungrounded,
Unfocused or your thoughts are racing,
This practice is an invitation back into the body,
An alternative to focusing on the breath when that feels like too much or simply isn't what your body needs.
This is a gentle,
Supportive,
And accessible way to anchor yourself.
And as with any of these practices,
You choose the intensity.
Going with your energy,
With what your body allows,
And adapting as needed.
Finding a supportive position,
Either sitting or standing.
Eyes can be open or closed.
Or a soft gaze in front of you.
Coming into your body,
Noticing where you are in contact with what is beneath you.
Gently soften the jaw.
The shoulders.
Arms and legs.
Just inviting a bit of tension to release from the body.
And allow any size which arrive to arrive.
Notice where your feet touch the floor.
And bring your hands palm to palm.
We are going to do three rounds of active pressing.
Bringing a moderate steady firmness.
Engaging your palms and your feet deeply.
But without over straining.
Holding for a moment and then releasing.
Let's begin together,
Finding a steady,
Strong connection.
Pressing palm into palm.
And feeling the soles of the feet actively pressing to the ground beneath you.
Holding for a moment and letting the rest of the body soften.
The jaw,
The neck.
Feeling the pressure coming together.
And releasing.
Letting it all go.
Making any movement which the body wants to.
Or maybe allowing any stillness to arrive.
And this time we can do the same again,
Feet into the floor.
Staying palm to palm.
Or if you prefer,
Placing your palms onto a wall or desk nearby.
Crossing together.
Sensing all five fingers.
All parts of the feet into the floor.
Balls of the feet.
The heels.
Or the toes.
Holding that pressure,
Which feels right for you.
And releasing.
A note as we pause.
Grinding can feel subtle,
So you may feel it a lot,
A little,
Or not much at all,
And that's okay.
Just be in this moment.
And allow it to be.
Coming back for our last round together.
Staying palm to palm.
Or with your palms against your chosen surface and feet into the floor.
Pressing together just enough so that you feel the resistance of pushing into your palms and feet.
Without creating tension in your neck or jaw.
Just holding that pressure for one more moment.
And releasing.
Letting it all go.
Moving your body in any way which feels right.
Or maybe just feeling into the stillness of this moment.
Notice how you feel.
Is there any warmth in the body?
Or any parts which feel more open or grounded.
Check in with how your mind feels.
How your emotions feel.
Remember,
You can return to this practice at any time,
Pretty much anywhere.
One round a few seconds within your day.
While waiting for the cattle to boil.
Or sitting at your desk.
These are micro movements to feel and ground into your body.
Take care.
