Welcome to cozy couch chats.
I've got my cat,
Sally,
On my lap right now.
She's purring away.
This is something new I felt inspired to start just any time I had any kind of download,
Insight,
Theme that I felt was worth sharing with the collective.
So today I want to talk about one way that the ego gets in the way of our evolution,
Of our leveling up spiritually and even on a human level.
So here's what I'm thinking.
If you find yourself comparing your journey to that of someone else,
Maybe thinking things like,
I'm more evolved than they are,
I'm more spiritually aware than they are,
I have more wisdom than they have.
Or if you find yourself feeling insecure wondering if they have more experience and wisdom than you or if they are more evolved than you.
This is coming from an ego place and that's okay.
It's important to remember that because ego is all a part of the human experience.
It's not something we can avoid,
But it's something we can practice developing awareness of.
It's something we can stop and notice.
It's something we can become curious about.
Curious about.
And it's important when this happens to not judge yourself.
Judging yourself,
Just like judging someone else,
Is the ego.
Judging where you are on your journey compared to someone else is the ego.
And rather than judging yourself when you notice this happening,
Just be curious about it.
Have grace and compassion for yourself and just notice.
Sit with the feelings if what you're feeling is insecurity,
Comparison,
Feeling a lack,
Feeling a lack,
Feeling superior to someone or inferior to someone.
Just stop and notice and ask yourself,
Where is this coming from?
What is at the root of this?
Our ego is here to tell us things.
It's to give us insights into areas where we can evolve further.
And this isn't going to happen overnight.
But the more you practice awareness of the ego appearing in your interactions,
In your thoughts,
In your behaviors,
The more you pause to reflect on what is at the root,
The more you will evolve.
And going back to comparing your journey to someone else's,
And in terms of seeking to evolve on a soul,
Spiritual level,
To move towards light,
To become enlightened,
Comparing your journey to that of someone else goes against the purpose of all of that.
No two journeys are the same.
And there's room for each and every one of us to evolve together.
And each of us will evolve at our own unique pace.
And frankly,
If that weren't the case,
Life would be a little less interesting.
And it would be harder to learn from each other.
But the goal is to learn from each other in a way that is meaningful to each of us.
The goal is to learn from each other in a way where the ego takes a backseat.
And to learn from a place of an open mind,
An open heart,
And from a place of curiosity,
And from a place of humbleness.
Because we do not know everything.
No one on this earth knows everything.
And there is so much beauty in that.
So the takeaway here is to practice awareness of when the ego comes to the surface,
When it's triggered.
To not judge yourself when that happens.
And instead to be curious,
To pause and reflect.
To ask what is at the root of it,
And what is that ego response pointing to,
That we can evolve.
And having patience and compassion with ourselves in that process.
And remembering that there's room for each and every one of us to evolve together in our own unique ways.
And that the best way forward is together,
Is holding space for each other.
To come into our best selves,
To encourage others,
To evolve.
To encourage others to evolve and to blossom into their most authentic self.
And that's what I have for you today.
Thanks for listening to my cozy couch chat.
Have a great day.
