Take a moment to settle into your space.
Find a comfortable position,
Whether seated or lying down.
Just make sure that your body is relaxed as you begin to focus on your breath.
Inhale deeply through your nose,
Filling your lungs completely.
Exhale gently through your mouth,
Allowing tension to release.
As you continue to breathe deeply,
Let your awareness flow into your body,
Letting go of external distractions,
Letting go of the day.
This is your time,
A sacred space to journey inward,
To explore the layers of yourself that are ready to be revealed.
Imagine now that with every inhale you are drawing in clarity,
And with every exhale you are letting go of something you no longer need.
Each breath is a step into a deeper connection with yourself,
A movement toward truth.
With your eyes gently closed,
Bring your attention towards the concept of masks,
Those we wear in our daily lives,
The ones we have learned to put on over time.
These masks have served us,
They've been tools for protection,
For acceptance,
For belonging.
They've allowed us to fit into roles,
To meet the expectations of others,
To survive in challenging environments,
And yet they also hide pieces of us.
Beneath these masks lie fragments of our true essence,
Our authentic selves waiting to be revealed.
Consider without judgement the masks you wear.
The mask of the perfect self,
The one that tries to meet everyone's expectations.
The mask of strength,
The one that hides your vulnerability.
The mask of indifference,
The one that protects you from pain.
There may even be others.
See if you can name them quietly in your mind.
What are these masks protecting?
What parts of you are they shielding from the world?
Take a few moments to visualise each of these masks.
Imagine their shapes,
Their colours,
Their textures.
Perhaps one mask feels rigid,
Like armour,
While another is soft,
Almost transparent.
Each one has a purpose.
Each one was created in response to something.
Acknowledge these masks.
Thank them for their role in keeping you safe,
Or allowing you to navigate the complexities of life.
But know that today,
In this moment,
You have the power to gently,
Lovingly begin to release them.
Now let's begin a new visualisation.
Imagine yourself standing in front of a clear,
Still lake.
The water is so calm that it mirrors everything perfectly.
You see yourself reflected in the surface,
But this image is covered by the masks you wear.
These masks are like ripples on the surface,
Distorting the true reflection of who you are beneath them.
The water represents the essence of your soul,
Still pure and authentic.
With each breath,
Visualise a gentle breeze starting to blow across the lake.
As it moves,
It begins to clear the surface,
Smoothing the water and removing the ripples caused by your masks.
The breeze is soft,
Warm and inviting.
It represents your inner wisdom,
The part of you that knows you no longer need these layers.
It's guiding you to a place of clarity,
A place where you can see your true reflection.
Now bring your attention back to the reflection of yourself in the lake.
As you look at this reflection,
You notice the first mask,
The mask of perfection,
The one that has told you that you must be flawless to be loved.
With the help of the breeze,
See this mask begin to lift from your reflection in the water.
Watch as it dissolves into the air,
Becoming lighter and lighter until it's gone.
The water becomes clearer and your reflection sharpens.
As the mask disappears,
Notice how it feels.
Does your body feel lighter?
Does your mind feel freer?
Without this mask,
What do you see in your reflection?
You may notice that beneath the mask of perfection is a face that carries natural beauty,
A face full of the real imperfections that make you uniquely you.
Feel a deep sense of acceptance as you stand before your clearer reflection.
Now the breeze picks up slightly,
Inviting you to release another mask,
The mask of strength.
This is the one that hides your vulnerability,
The one that tells you that showing emotions is weakness.
You watch as the mask of strength lifts from the water's surface.
It,
Too,
Dissolves into the breeze,
No longer necessary.
Without this mask,
Notice the change in your reflection.
You may see softness,
Tenderness,
Or perhaps the contours of your face show traces of your real emotions,
Emotions that no longer need to be hidden.
Feel the strength that comes not from holding things in,
But from allowing yourself to be open and real.
Next,
Turn your attention to the mask of control.
This mask is the one that makes you believe you must manage every outcome,
Every detail to feel safe.
Visualize it lifting from the surface of the lake,
Carried away by the breeze,
Dissolving into nothingness.
With this mask gone,
You may notice your reflection in the water becoming even more fluid,
More natural.
You are no longer trying to control how things appear.
You are simply being.
Feel the relief of letting go.
In this stillness,
You begin to see that your true self is capable of flowing with life,
Not against it.
And finally,
With speed,
You notice every mask falling from your face.
And as the last mask dissolves into the breeze,
You are left standing in front of the lake,
Seeing yourself clearly for the first time.
This is your true reflection.
Look deeply into the water.
Who are you without the masks?
What does your authentic self feel like?
Notice how peaceful and powerful it feels to simply exist without the need to hide or pretend.
This reflection is the real you,
Pure,
Unfiltered and fully deserving of love and acceptance.
When you are ready,
Gently wiggle your fingers and toes,
Bringing awareness back to your body.
Slowly,
With intention,
Open your eyes.
You are here in this moment,
More aligned with your true self than ever before.
Carry this feeling with you as you go forward,
Knowing that you are worthy,
That you are loved and that your authentic self is your greatest gift to the world.
