Welcome to the Best Life University podcast.
I'm Dr.
Lynn Brown,
A counselor and educator.
In this podcast,
I discuss a myriad of topics related to the five dimensions of personal growth,
Mental,
Social,
Spiritual,
Emotional,
And physical.
Thank you so much for listening.
Today's topic is Living Mindfully in a Changing World,
Acceptance of Self.
Have you ever chided yourself,
Called yourself stupid,
Or said to yourself,
You idiot?
We tend to rate ourselves instead of our performance,
So we have the habit of equating our performance with our worth.
This is dangerous.
We must never question our inherent value.
It is imperative that we value ourselves,
Trust ourselves,
And love ourselves.
There is no sliding scale of value.
We are valuable because we exist,
And nothing and no one can change this.
Without this recognition,
We have nothing solid upon which to build our lives.
Acceptance of self permits you to look at yourself without fear of what you may discover.
It gives you a haven of safety.
It allows you to accept others without judgment.
And it gives you the freedom to grow and change.
Practice acceptance of self by noticing when you hear yourself questioning your inherent value.
When you do,
Stop.
Alter how you are expressing yourself.
Words are very powerful.
They determine your reality.
So never let anything slip by you.
What are some of the statements you find yourself saying that show a lack of self-acceptance?
What will you say instead?
