How we perceive things,
What we think about things,
What meaning we attach to things,
Creates a direct influence on how we experience those things in life.
As we move about our day,
We encounter different objects and items of furniture.
Every single thing brings the opportunity to receive support.
Let me explain.
So if you're sitting on a chair,
You're not just sitting on a chair,
You can see it as just a chair.
So if you choose to attach the meaning of,
I am supported by this chair,
This chair is supporting me,
Holding me,
That's an opportunity to feel a greater sense of support in life.
Now the mind might be thinking,
Yes,
Well,
That's very simple.
Thing is though,
Choosing to see something as a gift,
Choosing to see something as a point of support,
A greater sense of comfort,
Safety,
And security in life can help you to feel more of those things in life.
So just take a moment to notice what's in your environment.
Is your body in contact with any items of furniture?
What do you have present in the room that you're in or perhaps you're outdoors?
What do you have in your immediate surroundings?
What is your body in contact with and how is that supporting you right now?
Giving you a moment of rest.
To pause,
To receive.
A wonderful,
Simple question that you can ask yourself is,
How is life supporting me right now?
The mind often focuses on the problems,
What's going wrong,
Challenges.
This can be very easy to remain stuck in if we're taking in negative news stories from around the world.
It's important to be aware of what's happening in the world and to know how to help and support our fellow humans,
But when there's too much focus placed on that or too much focus placed on any challenges,
Any personal problems that maybe arise thing.
Spending all of the time thinking about what's going wrong,
It's very easy to feel like you're in this dark,
Black hole.
Forgetting that there are so many points of support right here,
Right now.
How is life supporting you right now?
And the physical world is an easy place to start,
Just to notice the everyday objects around you.
But you can also expand that to different levels,
The mental,
Emotional and spiritual levels.
We can choose to see things as problems or opportunities,
Challenges to learn and grow from,
Or obstacles that block us and prevent us.
By returning to the breath,
To the body,
Slowing down,
We're able to open up to the little big things in life,
The little things that really are the big things that can provide comfort in life.
We open up to seeing the deeper threads in life,
Recognizing that every experience brings opportunities.
It's not about getting it perfect,
It's not about always seeing the silver lining,
Of course,
Being human with an ego and soul.
There may be moments where the victim comes up.
There may be moments of lacking energy and motivation,
And that's okay.
Life is a meditation.
In meditation,
Often there is an anchor,
Something to focus on,
Whether that's the breath,
A candle,
A mantra.
And it's not about emptying the mind,
It's about noticing what arises and then coming back and back and back again to whatever is the anchor.
A constant returning and remembering.
And that's the same with life.
We go about our day,
Different to-do lists,
Challenges,
Interactions,
Experiences.
There may be times that we forget of that deeper core within,
The life within,
Getting caught up with the thoughts and the worries of the ego mind.
Though seeing life as a meditation practice,
There's the opportunity to keep remembering and returning,
And using the breath and the body as this anchor.
Those moments where we feel off balance are simply just a reminder to come back,
To remember what lies within.
It starts with a breath,
Back to the original beat,
The beat of the heart,
Coming back to the core of life within you.
And then from there,
Asking yourself the question,
How is life supporting me right now?
Try it,
Notice what comes up and notice how this shifts your experience.
Again,
It's not about getting it perfect,
It's simply just about reconnecting back to the breath.
Back to the heart and opening up to receive how life is holding you.
