Namaskaram everybody.
Every moment of your life is shaped by choice.
Not just the obvious choices,
Where to live,
What career to pursue,
Or who to spend your life with.
But the quieter choices that are happening all the time.
Whether to react or respond.
Whether to hold on to yesterday or meet this moment as it is.
Whether to live unconsciously or consciously.
Most people believe that they're choosing everything.
But if you look very closely,
Much of what we call choice is simply just habit.
Choosing memory,
Conditioning choosing us,
Fear choosing,
The past repeating itself through the present.
If your reactions are automatic.
Are you really choosing?
Or are you simply allowing yesterday?
To decide today.
Yoga says that freedom begins the moment you become conscious enough to create a little space in between what happens and how to respond.
In that space,
Choice becomes possible.
Not because life suddenly becomes easier.
But because you are no longer compelled to repeat what has always been.
I remember having a conversation with someone about wearing hats.
They said,
I'm just not a hat person.
I don't like hats.
I smiled and said,
There's only one requirement to becoming a HAP person.
You just have to wear a hat.
And suddenly,
We both laughed because we realized There's something totally ridiculous about it.
But in another,
It reveals something profounder.
Identity often feels permanent or fixed.
Until you realize it is reinforced by thousands of tiny decisions.
Every day we quietly tell ourselves who we are.
I'm not confident.
I'm not creative.
I'm not disciplined.
I'm not spiritual.
But perhaps those are not truths at all.
Perhaps they're simply stories that we have been repeating for so long that they actually become our reality.
This doesn't mean you can instantly become anything you imagine.
Because real transformation takes commitment,
It takes practice,
Patience.
It takes time.
Investment.
But every genuine transformation begins in exactly the same place.
A conscious choice.
Before there is action,
There is a willingness.
Before there is mastery,
There is one small step.
The life you experience tomorrow is quietly being shaped by the choices you make today.
So maybe the real question isn't.
What do I want to become?
And maybe it is something like this.
What is the next conscious choice available to me?
Because life doesn't usually change all at once.
It changes.
One conscious choice at a time.
So before we finish.
I'd like to invite you into a brief moment of exploration.
If it's safe to do so where you're at right now,
Allow your eyes to gently close.
Take a slow,
Easy breath in and let it fall away without effort.
Again.
Breathing in.
And breathing out.
Now simply notice one area of your life where you've been living on autopilot.
There's no judgment,
No need to fix anything.
Just notice.
Perhaps it's a habit,
A relationship,
A way of speaking to yourself.
A reoccurring emotional pattern.
Simply become aware of it.
And as you observe it.
Notice that something remarkable has already happened.
There is now a little space between you and me.
And the pattern.
Rest there for a few moments.
Now within that space.
There is freedom.
Within that freedom.
There is choice.
And perhaps where every meaningful transformation truly begins.
Not with forcing.
Not with becoming someone else.
But with becoming conscious enough to choose.
Thank you for being here.
And until next time.
Take good care of yourself.
And try to see if you can infuse more conscious moments and choices into your day.
Pranam.
