(Wk 13) Vulnerability Part 4 Of 5 - Unleash Your Peace
by Ellie Shoja
A core ingredient for all creation that most people miss. On our fourth day talking about Vulnerability, we look at the connection between allowing ourselves to be vulnerable and the very act of creation.

Hello and welcome back to Unleash Your Peace.
My name is Elly Shojja.
I am your host.
I'm a positive mindset coach,
A personal transformation expert,
A deliberate creator,
And I am your peace trainer.
And Unleash Your Peace is your peace training.
Every single week we dive into a different topic about the internal world.
We do that over the course of five episodes published Monday through Friday.
The episodes are super short and sweet.
The entire point of them is to take you inward,
Give you something thought-provoking throughout the day that allows you to release that unwanted pain you've been carrying,
Tap into that internal peace that resides within you,
And ultimately live your best life.
When we live from this place of joy and peace and connectedness to that infinite non-physical part of us,
That part of us that is the beingness of us that holds the potential of us,
We don't just incrementally improve the quality of our lives.
We actually exponentially innovate every aspect of our experiences on this physical plane.
We become whole.
We become deliberate creators and we become so powerful in our own lives that we start inspiring and uplifting everybody who comes our way.
And this is essentially how we save the world.
We bring peace on earth,
One open heart at a time.
We are all boats tied to each other.
We're tethered to each other.
We rise and fall together.
Now,
This week we're talking about vulnerability,
One of perhaps the most incredibly powerful things we can incorporate and integrate into our lives,
This willingness to be vulnerable,
To be open,
Because the state of being vulnerable,
The willingness to be vulnerable is essentially the willingness to live with an open and exposed heart.
Now,
When we open our hearts,
When we say,
I love you,
When there's no guarantee of hearing it back,
When we go into a situation without knowing what the outcome is going to be,
This is at the base of creation itself.
We literally cannot create.
We can't innovate.
We can't change anything about the status quo if we are not willing to be vulnerable because every time we are vulnerable,
We are essentially going into uncharted territory.
We are entering a room where we don't know what is inside of it.
We are entering the arena,
As Bernie Brown says,
Instead of being on the sidelines.
And whether we win or not,
Whether we are right or wrong,
Just the act of being there alone is the win because how many times have we stood on the sidelines?
And we have said,
I will do that thing.
I will start this thing when I know what the outcome is going to be and the outcome is going to be in my favor.
I live in Los Angeles and in LA,
There are so many writers.
You can literally throw a stone anywhere on any street corner and hit a writer.
And do you know what most of these writers have in common?
99% of the writers in LA,
Do you know what they have in common?
They do not have a finished product.
They have not written a book or a screenplay to completion.
And why is that?
It's incredibly difficult to complete things.
How many 90 percenters do you have in your life?
People who love starting projects and they do it and they never actually put it out into the world.
And why do people have such a hard time finishing projects?
I believe it's because finishing them means sharing them and sharing them is perhaps one of the most vulnerable things we do.
If you put your heart and soul into a project and you bring it to completion and you put it in front of somebody else,
What does that feel like?
It feels like complete exposure.
You are sharing your heart with them.
Maya Angelou says,
There's nothing to writing.
You sit in front of a typewriter and you bleed.
And that's what it feels like when you do a new project,
When you create a new project.
Now I was in a way part of that same group because I did actually finish projects.
I finished several novels,
Several books and several screenplays,
But I was in the camp of I would finish them and I would keep them on my laptop for an eternity.
I would not share them with people or I would share them very reluctantly with a select few.
Why?
Because I felt completely exposed.
I felt completely vulnerable.
So today I want to bring to your attention this idea that you cannot change anything in the world.
You cannot innovate.
You cannot create anything if you are not willing to be vulnerable.
So if you are a person who has big dreams,
If you are a person who wants to do something impactful with your life and you have an aversion to vulnerability,
You might want to take a look at that.
You might want to really start practicing living with an open heart,
Exposing yourself,
Start exposing yourself in small settings and then bigger settings and better yet,
Take a big stance and do something to completion and put it out into the world.
Start a blog,
Start an Instagram account,
Start that business,
Take that class that pushes you to your limit and forces you to put that thing out into the world.
Whatever it is,
Really take that next step and do it,
Do it,
Do it.
Because without you stepping into the arena,
Without you actually doing it,
Actually pulling that trigger and participating in the project that you are imagining,
You are never going to have the impact that you desire.
You are never going to create the thing you want to create.
You are never going to influence that change.
You are never going to be the person that you in your mind know you are.
Now all of that might sound really harsh.
I am being very emphatic when I say these things.
I'm saying them to you in a very definitive way and it is because I have learned it is a very definitive thing.
I have learned that it is a fact that in order to bring your ideas to fruition,
You have to be willing to share those ideas.
And when you share those ideas,
I know it feels incredibly vulnerable.
I know it feels incredibly exposing,
But without you being willing to do that,
Without you being willing to expose yourself,
No one is going to know.
We are afraid of what people will say.
Why?
Because we make their view of us an absolute about what we are and who we are and what we deserve.
And when we shift our perspective slightly and we understand,
We internalize this alternate belief that who we are,
Our worthiness,
Our loveableness is not tied to people's opinions of us,
Then their opinion of us becomes irrelevant.
Then we can live these exposed lives without feeling like we are going to become invalidated.
It is a matter of seeing yourself small or seeing yourself large.
If you see yourself small,
Then you see yourself as someone who can be at the effect of other people's opinions of you.
If you see yourself large,
Then no one's opinion of you matters.
If I think that my self-worth is tied to what you think I deserve,
Then I am going to be very worried about what you think of me.
But if I think that I am a worthy creator,
I am here to create,
And I have infinite resources at my fingertips because the consciousness that observed this universe into existence also flows through me,
Then you can come to me and say,
Ellie,
You're an idiot.
And I'm going to say,
Yeah,
Well,
OK,
That's what you think.
That's OK.
I'm not going to care whatever you think of me because my worth,
The definition of me,
What I am is not dependent of your view of me.
Do you think the ocean cares about what people say of it or think of it?
Do you think the sky cares about what people think of it or say of it?
Do you think the sun cares about what people think or say of it?
Now think of some of the greatest heroes that you have,
The people who are unshakable,
The people who have incredible influence on the world,
People like Ellen Degeneres and Oprah,
For example.
Do you think they care even the slightest about what other people say and think about them?
Do you think that keeps them up at night?
Do you think they enter a room and think,
Oh,
My goodness,
I hope these people like me?
No,
Because their worth,
Their idea of who they are and what they are is not tied to popular opinion of them.
So today I will simply leave you with that,
And I hope you take this to heart,
And I hope you take it to heart in such a way that inspires you to put what you have out into the world because the world needs your voice.
And I hope that you do this authentically and with an open heart.
And until tomorrow,
When we come back and conclude this very important topic of vulnerability,
