When you only have a couple of minutes, a deep breathing exercise is a wonderful way for children to connect and center. In this breathing exercise, backed by calming music, featuring the piano, Effie begins by guiding your child to breathe deep, 3-second breaths. Then, together, they will focus on that breath, sensing cool air on their inhale, and warm air on their exhale.

It's time for our mindful moment!

Let's breathe!

Ahhhh!

Ah-ha-ha!

First,

Sit in a comfortable position with your back straight.

You can also lie down with your back flat on the ground.

We are going to breathe deeply through our nose for the count of three,

Then out through our mouths for the count of three.

And I'll do the counting.

You just concentrate on that breathing.

Close your eyes.

And now breathe in through your nose.

One,

Two,

Three.

And out through your mouth.

One,

Two,

Three.

Breathe in.

One,

Two,

Three.

And out.

One,

Two,

Three.

Breathe in.

One,

Two,

Three.

And out.

One,

Two,

Three.

Breathe in.

One,

Two,

Three.

And out.

One,

Two,

Three.

And keep breathing.

And as you breathe in,

Notice the breath is cool coming through your nose and warmer leaving your mouth.

Breathe in the cool.

And out the warm.

Breathe in the cool.

And out the warm.

Breathe in the cool.
