Welcome.
Take a moment to settle into where you are.
Let your body find its comfort.
Let your breath be natural.
And allow yourself to arrive here without needing anything more from this moment.
There is nowhere else you need to be.
Nothing you need to accomplish.
For these next few moments,
You are simply being invited to experience your life.
And to remember some of what makes it precious.
Take a gentle breath.
And perhaps begin with the simplest awareness.
I am here.
Here in this body.
Here in this moment.
Here within a life that has held so many experiences.
So many mornings.
Conversations.
Bases,
Places,
Beginnings.
Endings,
Moments of laughter.
Moments of tenderness.
Moments you could never have planned,
And moments you will always remember.
Allow yourself to think of something you cherish.
Perhaps someone you love.
A place that brings you peace.
An experience that changed you.
A familiar voice.
A beloved animal.
A piece of music.
A room filled with people you care about.
A quiet morning.
A beautiful meal.
A journey,
A celebration,
A moment when you felt completely alive.
You don't need to search for the most important memory.
Let something simple arise.
And notice what happens within you as you remember.
Perhaps there is warmth.
A smile,
A softening.
Perhaps emotion.
Let yourself receive the memory.
Not merely remember it,
Receive it.
This happened.
I experienced this.
This is part of my life.
There is such comfort in remembering what we have loved,
And such privilege in having something to cherish.
Not because every moment has been easy,
Not because life has given us everything we have wanted.
But because,
Within an imperfect human life,
There can still be so much that is sacred,
So much that has touched us.
So much that has made us laugh.
So much that has brought us home to ourselves.
So much that has reminded us it is beautiful to be alive.
Take another gentle breath and now allow your attention to move toward what you are thankful for today.
Perhaps something very ordinary,
The warmth of your bed,
Water,
Food,
Sunlight dancing through a window.
The ability to step outside.
A message from someone you love.
The comfort of home.
The sound of laughter,
Your work.
Your creativity.
A quiet cup of tea.
The changing sky,
The freedom to make a choice,
The ability to begin again.
Notice what you may sometimes move past without realizing this too is part of the goodness of my life.
Let gratitude become less about making a list and more about experiencing what is already here.
Feel what you are thankful for.
Let yourself enjoy it.
Let yourself cherish it.
Let yourself recognize the privilege of being able to say,
This matters to me.
Perhaps now bring to mind someone whose presence has made your life more beautiful.
You do not need to speak to them.
Simply hold them gently in your awareness.
Notice what they have given you.
A memory,
A lesson,
Love,
Friendship,
Encouragement,
Belonging,
Perhaps simply their presence.
And silently,
If it feels right,
Offer thank you.
Thank you for being part of my life.
Thank you for what we have shared.
Thank you for the ways knowing you has become part of who I am.
And perhaps there are people you can no longer speak to.
People you miss.
Experiences that belong to another chapter of your life.
Places you cannot return to in quite the same way.
Gratitude can live here too.
We can be thankful for something even when it has passed.
We can cherish what was without needing it to still be here.
We can allow love to remain.
Take a moment with that.
And then gently return to yourself,
To this life you are living now.
Think of something you are looking forward to,
Something still waiting to be experienced,
A person you will see.
A place you may go.
Something you want to create a quiet pleasure,
A dream,
A new beginning.
Perhaps simply tomorrow morning.
There is joy in what has been and there can be joy in what is still becoming.
You are living in between both,
Holding memories behind you and possibilities before you.
And here you are.
In this moment.
Able to cherish,
Able to love.
Able to notice,
Able to experience,
Able to be thankful.
Place a hand over your heart.
If that feels comfortable,
And allow these words to settle gently within you.
I am thankful for the life I have lived.
I am thankful for the love I have known.
I am thankful for what brings me comfort.
I am thankful for the experiences I cherish.
I am thankful for the joy that has found me.
I am thankful for the ordinary moments I once dreamed of having.
I am thankful for what is here now.
And I'm thankful for what is still waiting to be lived.
Take a slow,
Comfortable breath.
There will always be things in life that ask something of us,
Things we are working toward,
Things we hope will change,
Things we are still learning to understand.
Being thankful does not ask us to deny any of this.
It simply allows us to hold another truth alongside it.
There is goodness here too.
There is love here.
There is beauty here.
There is comfort here.
There is joy here.
There is life here.
And perhaps this is one of the quiet privileges of being alive.
To notice,
To receive,
To cherish,
And to say thank you.
Thank you for this life.
Thank you for this moment.
Thank you for what I have known.
Thank you for what I have loved.
Thank you for what I am still becoming,
And thank you for all that I have yet to experience.
Stay here for another breath.
Let gratitude be felt rather than spoken.
Let it settle into you.
A quiet warmth.
Of remembering.
A way of seeing.
And when you are ready,
Gently return to the room around you.
Carry with you one thing you cherish,
One thing you are thankful for,
And perhaps let yourself notice it a little more deeply today.
What a privilege it is to have a life.
That I can cherish.
Namaste.
