Welcome.
I am Diana Sturm and I'm a licensed professional counselor.
And today we're going to talk a little bit about anger.
So anger is a very natural emotion and everyone at some point in their life experiences anger.
The key is that we don't want to hold onto it for long term.
So it's normal to feel angry in the moment or even for a few days,
But then it should be released.
Those that hold on to anger for months or years.
Or even decades.
You may want to listen to this video to find some support where you can learn how to start to release the anger that you've been holding onto.
Anger,
Like a lot of other upsetting emotions,
Does add stress to the body that the body then has to manage on a daily basis.
So allowing it to move through our bodies is the ultimate goal.
And today we're going to use tapping to do that.
So first I want you to check in with your body,
And you probably know right off the bat what you're angry about or who you're angry about.
And maybe just go ahead and take a second and write down just a name,
An event,
And note,
How angry are you?
Like,
Are you super enraged?
Or are you just kind of annoyed?
I don't like working with that person or something like that.
So note the level of intensity.
And note also,
Do you feel it somewhere in your body?
You know,
Is it in your throat?
Do you have trouble expressing your anger?
Is it in your chest?
Is it in your shoulders or is it in your back like someone stabbed you in the back?
Where do you hold the sensation in your body?
Note that also on a sheet of paper or something else,
Just note it in your mind.
So we're going to do some tapping for anger.
And the goal is to help loosen that anger up and to reduce the intensity.
And this is supporting you.
Supporting you in your everyday life.
To allow you to feel the emotion,
But also then to start to release these emotions,
To let them go.
All right,
So let's start by doing some grounded breathing.
So get comfortable,
Hands over your heart.
And take a long,
Slow,
Deep breath in.
And slowly release the breath.
Take another long,
Slow,
Deep breath in.
And slowly release it.
One more long,
Slow,
Deep breath in.
And slowly release it.
Top of the head.
Gently tap.
I acknowledge that I've been holding anger in.
I can feel it in my body.
And please repeat those statements.
Take a deep breath in.
And release the breath.
On your beginning of each eyebrow.
I've been holding this anger in for a long time.
And I'm ready to allow it to flow out of my body.
I'm ready to allow my body to release this anger.
Take a deep breath in.
Release the breath.
Side of the eye.
Now before I start on this one point,
I want to note if you want to use a different word for anger.
You might swear.
You might use rage,
You might use some other word to describe the anger you're feeling,
And that is fine.
So when I allow the space for you to repeat the statement,
Just use your choice of words.
I feel anger inside of my body.
And I'm ready to release it.
I've been holding onto this anger for a long time.
And I want to honor my body.
And I want to release all stress related to this anger.
Take a deep breath in.
Release the breath.
Under the eye.
I am here to support my body.
To acknowledge my emotions,
And to release the anger I've been holding in.
I have no need to hang on to this anger any longer.
I give permission.
To my body.
To myself,
To release the anger I've been holding.
Take a deep breath in.
Release the breath.
Under your nose.
I honor that my body has tried to protect me.
And it has held on to this anger.
As a warning system for me.
But the time has passed for me to let go of this anger.
So I give permission to my body to release all of the anger fully and completely from my entire system.
I do this because I want to support myself.
And I want to feel peace in my heart.
Take a deep breath in.
Release the breath.
Undo the lower lip.
I acknowledge that I've had anger inside of me.
And it's been there for a while.
I know it's normal to feel anger.
But I'm ready to release this anger.
I acknowledge these feelings that I have of anger.
But I want to feel peace.
I choose to release this anger that I've been holding.
It has kept me safe for a long time.
But I'm ready to release it now.
Take a deep breath in.
Release the breath.
Then on your collarbone.
I acknowledge that I have anger,
And I am not always able to release it.
Quickly.
I acknowledge that anger causes me a lot of stress.
And I want my body to feel better.
I want to support my body.
I give permission today.
To my body to release all anger it's been holding.
I release all anger from my distant past.
And from current circumstances.
I'm ready to feel at peace.
Take a deep breath in.
Release the breath.
Okay,
You can stop tapping.
Kind of wiggle around a little bit.
See if your body feels any different.
Are any of your muscles more relaxed?
Did anything else come up?
And how did that feel to support your body,
To acknowledge that I've been holding this into me for a long time,
I don't need it anymore.
I'm ready to let it go.
I'm ready to resolve this.
And release the stress from my body.
So think about the intensity of your anger before we did the tapping.
Has that changed at all?
Did you replace the word anger with a word that you prefer?
So for instance,
You know,
If you are enraged at somebody,
That's enrage is a much bigger emotion that anger is.
Rage is where someone could hurt somebody or kill somebody.
So if you feel that rage.
Go through this again and use the word rage instead of anger.
Or maybe it's left.
Maybe you're just annoyed.
You know,
Oh,
That person's so annoying.
I don't like them.
You know,
Change the word to match the level of the intensity of the anger that you feel.
By doing so,
You are supporting your own system.
You are allowing yourself to hear and to feel the emotions that you do have inside.
And it's really important for us to do that,
To acknowledge what we hold inside.
So again,
Let's take a deep breath in.
And just relax.
Thank you for sharing this time with me.
Watch the video and tap along as often as you would like to.
And I really hope that you feel better.
Come back again for more videos.
