Welcome to My Little Corner of the World.
My name is Diana Sturm and I'm a licensed professional counselor.
My tapping videos and meditations are for support and education and are not a substitute for professional care.
In today's practice,
I want to acknowledge that people often need support for saying no.
Pressure can come from many areas outside of you or even internal pressures to agree with others and to say yes when you really want to say no.
Today's tapping practice helps support you by taking some of the pressure off to say yes,
So you can more clearly look at your options on how to answer someone.
Let's first check in with your body.
How does your body feel when you want to say no?
You might want to jot down how you feel before we start.
Notice any sensations or any feelings when you want to say no.
Okay,
Done writing it down.
Let's start.
Let's first do some grounded breathing.
So place your hands over your heart.
And take a deep breath in.
And slowly release it.
Take another long,
Slow,
Deep breath in.
And let it go.
And one more breath.
All the way to the bottom of your ribs.
And slowly let it go.
I'm going to make some statements and then pause after the statement so you can repeat the statement either aloud or in your head.
Let's start with the first tapping spot on the top of your head.
Tap gently.
On that spot.
I can't say no.
I say yes when I want to say no.
This feeling is bursting out of me.
I want to say no.
Take a deep breath in.
And release the breath.
On your eyebrow points.
I keep saying yes to everything.
I don't know how to stop.
Take a deep breath in.
And release the breath.
On the side of your eye.
I acknowledge I say yes even before I've thought about it.
I've been holding in how I really feel.
Take a deep breath in.
And release the breath.
Under the eye.
I feel stretched so thin.
I need to say no.
I'm ready to release the need to say yes to everyone.
Take a deep breath in.
And release the breath.
Under the nose.
Every time I want to say no,
The word gets stuck.
I acknowledge how hard this is and I'm ready to let it go.
Take a deep breath in.
And release the breath.
Under your lower lip.
I've been taking on things I don't have room for.
I give permission to myself to say,
No,
I'm too busy for that.
I release the need to say yes.
Take a deep breath in.
And release the breath.
On your collarbone.
I can't say no,
And I'm tired of it.
I honor the part of me that wants to say yes,
But I allow that part to also say no.
I acknowledge this pattern and I give permission to my body to release it.
Take a deep breath in.
And release the breath.
Okay,
You can stop tapping now.
Kind of wiggle around,
Take another breath.
And I want you to notice if anything has shifted,
Even a little bit.
And I want you to check in with your body again.
And I want you to think about saying no to someone.
How does that feel?
Has there been any shift that occurs when you feel it in your body?
How about just the idea of saying no?
Does that feel more comfortable?
If you'd like,
You can go through this sequence again and continue tapping.
I want to thank you for practicing with me.
And I'll see you next time.
