#102. Silence Of Body, Mind, Heart & The Fourth | VB
By meditating upon Bhairava, you attain silence that is beyond the body, mind, and heart. That place is referred to as Turiya or simply the fourth. Meditation Technique: Neither bondage nor liberation for me. I am the fourth. Meditate upon me. Join me in a 30-minute meditation session every day at 7 AM CET on my website.

Namaste everyone,
A very warm welcome to all of you in this daily live meditation session with me,
Dehansi.
We are meditating on 112 meditation techniques of Vigyan Bhairav Tantra.
Over the past 100 sessions and many more,
I have been repeatedly referring to silence using the word silence.
Let me once again remind us of what is this silence,
The nature of this silence.
Not that you have been missing this silence all throughout this time.
The nature of this silence has to be understood deeply as you become a meditator,
As you move on your spiritual journey.
This silence has a lot of significance.
Let us take a deep look at what is this silence,
Be in this silence.
This silence that I have been talking about,
This silence that we are experiencing in the meditations,
In the discourses,
Is not the absence of something.
It is not the absence of noise.
It is not noiselessness.
This silence is a presence.
It is some kind of a presence that has no noise,
But it is a presence,
It is not an absence.
That has to be understood very deeply.
This silence is a presence which has a certain grace,
Which has a certain beauty,
Which has a certain existence.
It is not something that is non-existential.
If you see when you listen to music,
In that there is noise and there is noiselessness.
The music is composed of noise and noiselessness.
The pauses when there is no noise.
The silence,
The meditative silence that we talk about,
That we experience during meditation,
That we bring in our life on this spiritual journey,
Has not much to do with this gap,
With this pause when there is no noise.
But rather,
The entire music,
The music which is composed of the noise and the noiselessness.
Both together,
When they are in harmony,
They form a music.
And that music of life is silence.
That inaction in action,
That grace when both the action and the inaction come together,
That is the silence.
And that is not just some idea,
That is what is the movement of the meditator through life.
This action,
This inaction in action,
This action in inaction,
Both together in harmony create that silence.
So this silence is not the absence of things.
It is not where there is nothing happening.
It is where life and existence is flowing and you are in perfect harmony with that flow,
With that grace,
With that blessing that showers upon you as you move throughout your life.
That is what is silence.
A young archer,
He had perfected the art of archery very quickly and has defeated everybody in the world in the field of archery.
He very quickly gained his name,
His fame,
And along with that,
A lot of ego,
A lot of bravado came into this archer that he is the best archer in the whole world.
He went to every place,
Defeating person by person,
Remaining completely undefeated for years of his archery.
And one day,
He came across a village where somebody told him that there is a very old archer that lives on top of the hill.
That archer is the best archer in the whole world,
So you must defeat him in order to be known as the best archer in the whole world.
This young archer,
He was very quickly challenged by the idea.
He packed his bags,
Moved to the mountain in search of that old archer.
After several days of wandering,
Of climbing the paths of this mountain,
He reached to a place,
A very remote place,
Where he saw this old archer simply walking alone,
Very weak,
Very fragile,
Very very old,
Moving very silently,
Quietly through these mountains.
The young archer thought to himself,
Now this old archer is so fragile,
He cannot even pick up the bow and the arrow,
Forget about defeating me in archery.
So he challenged the old archer,
He said,
You are known to be the world's best archer,
But I am going to defeat you right now and take this title away from you.
From now on,
I am going to be the best archer in the whole world.
The old man did not say anything.
And this young man,
In order to challenge this old man,
He picked up his bow and arrow,
He pointed this bow and arrow at the sky,
Without even looking,
He released his arrow,
And two of the birds,
They fell down on his feet,
Dead immediately,
And he proved his art of archery.
As soon as that happened,
He looked at the old archer,
Challenged him and said,
Can you do something better than that?
The old archer remained silent.
He closed his eyes and turned his head towards the sky.
All the birds that were in the sky,
They came,
Sat down at the feet of that archer.
They simply did nothing,
They sat down at the feet of the archer.
This is the art of silence,
The art of action in inaction,
The art of inaction in action,
Both at the same time.
Unless that is perfected,
Unless the art of silence is perfected,
The journey remains incomplete.
Because something or the other in you remains unsatisfied,
Remains in the noise,
Remains in the trembling,
Remains in some kind of trouble.
This silence that I am talking about,
To understand this silence of action in inaction,
And inaction in action,
You can break this down on four levels.
The first level is the silence of the body.
When your body is in silence,
In meditation,
You learn to first of all bring the body from action to inaction,
To the stillness,
And from there on,
From when you move back into the world.
You carry that stillness,
That inaction,
In every action that you do.
You can learn this art of a silent body with things like yoga as well.
Yoga,
Hatha yoga,
Those who practice yoga regularly know what I am referring to.
They develop a certain grace,
A certain flow in their body,
Not only in the moments of yoga,
But when you notice someone as your friend or someone on the street,
You can say from a distance as well that that person must be doing yoga,
Because that person carries that flow in their body.
So,
Yoga is one way.
There could be so many other ways to bring that dance,
That flow,
That harmony in your body,
Where first of all you move from the action to the inaction,
And then from the inaction,
You take that inaction to your action,
To the flow of life,
To have your body moving in the flow of existence.
But this flow is also temporary.
This flow is also impermanent.
You can be in and out of this flow.
You can never permanently remain in just the flow of the body.
So,
There is some sort of a bondage in it.
There is some sort of a liberation in it.
There is moving in and out of this silence of the body.
When it is there,
It is very beautiful.
When it is not there,
You are in bondage.
When it is there,
You feel that your body is absolutely free.
You are moving without having any weight,
Without having any resistance.
So,
You are in a certain liberation with practicing yoga or dancing or any other kind of art which brings your body into this silence.
Then is the silence of the mind.
This silence of the mind is also worth experiencing,
Bringing into our life,
Because if we see how we are living,
Such a turmoil,
Such a chaos,
Such randomness in the action of the mind,
We have forgotten the inaction of the mind,
And that's where meditative silence.
This experience,
These moments of meditation once again bring you back from this active mind to an inactive mind,
To a place of stillness where the mind is absolutely silent.
And when you take this further back in your life,
You take that silence of the mind also in your life,
Also in your action,
You take the inaction,
The stillness in the action,
In the movement of your mind as well.
And you can also notice this in people who meditate regularly,
People whom you work with,
You interact with,
Those who have touched the meditative silence.
Their interaction also with the mind is very silent,
Very pleasant,
They have also a beauty,
A grace in expressing their mind as well,
And it is not just a random chaos.
But again,
This silence of the mind is also temporary,
You can be in and out of this silence of the mind,
You can be in bondage and in liberation out of this silence of the mind.
When it is there,
You feel weightless once again,
You feel liberated,
You feel in freedom,
But when it is not there,
You are in bondage of your mind,
You are in bondage of your own thoughts,
Your own ideas,
And your own mind is strapping you into this space which you cannot come out of.
So this silence of the mind also is something worth having in life,
But this is not where the journey stops.
The journey goes further and deeper towards the silence of the heart,
The silence of the heart which is there in love.
As an example in love,
The silence of the heart has its own place in life,
Silence of the heart is similar to while you are in love.
While you are in love with someone else,
While you are in love with yourself,
While you are in love with existence,
While everything that is flowing in your life is in harmony with your heart,
The heart becomes absolutely silent and the experience,
The taste of life is so graceful,
So beautiful when your heart is in silence.
And meditation takes you deeper from the silence of the body,
From the silence of the mind to the silence of also the heart.
There are practices,
As an example,
In Sufism that directly relate to the silence of the heart.
They are not concerned about your thought,
They are not concerned about your body,
They are all about the love,
About the flow of your heart,
And bringing that flow of your heart towards the flow of the existence in full synchronicity with the existence and bringing a silence to your heart which you live throughout your life.
But again,
This silence of the heart is also impermanent.
Sometimes it is there,
When it is there,
You feel free,
You feel liberated.
When it is not there,
You are in bondage.
Even love,
Such a powerful force which can take you into freedom also has this nature which can also throw you in a bondage as well.
Therefore,
Meditation goes even further deeper.
It doesn't stop at the heart,
It doesn't stop at the love.
It takes you deeper than the body,
Deeper than the mind,
Deeper than even the heart.
And only meditation can take you to that place,
To that place which is the fourth,
Which is the deepest,
Beyond the body,
Beyond the mind,
Beyond the heart.
That deepest place has no name.
You can call it your being,
You can call it your core for convenience,
But simply you may refer to that as the fourth.
The fourth,
The deepest,
Where once the silence is established,
Once you realize the silence there,
That silence remains forever.
Because that silence at that fourth is always there,
It is not really creating that silence,
It is not bringing silence to the fourth,
It is realizing silence of the fourth.
All the above levels of the body,
Of the mind,
Of the heart,
You have to work to achieve to a silent body,
Silent mind,
Silent heart.
But for the fourth,
You simply have to realize,
You simply have to realize the silence of the fourth.
In that silence of the fourth,
There is always freedom.
It is beyond liberation,
It is beyond bondage,
Because it is never impermanent,
It is always there.
It is beyond the realms,
Beyond the duality of something being there and something not being there.
And as we move along in this journey to the very peak of Vidyana Bhairava Tantra,
Let us listen to what Bhairava has to give us as a technique for today in reaching to this silence of the fourth.
Bhairava says,
Neither bondage nor liberation for me.
I am the fourth,
Meditate upon me.
Let me repeat.
Neither bondage nor liberation for me.
I am the fourth,
Meditate upon me.
Here,
Bhairava is saying,
Simply meditate upon me.
Do not try to look for a reference in your life for this fourth.
There is no reference for this fourth in life.
With references,
You can reach to the body,
You can reach to the mind,
You can reach to the heart.
But if you want the deepest silence,
If you want the ultimate,
Meditate upon me,
Because I,
The Bhairava,
Me,
The Bhairava,
I am beyond bondage,
Beyond liberation.
So here,
He is calling for the very ultimate.
He is saying,
If you want the ultimate,
You have to meditate upon me.
This may clash with some of the people who are rooted in ego,
Who would think,
Why should I meditate upon somebody?
Why should I meditate upon another figure?
This is only a sign of being rooted in the ego.
And unless we give ourselves that chance to meditate upon Bhairava,
The journey of Vigyan,
Bhairava Tantra remains incomplete.
So let us take these moments of silence,
Of meditation,
Of awareness,
To meditate upon Bhairava himself.
That pure consciousness that has taken us throughout this journey,
That has been so kind,
So blessing to all of us,
To give us that chance of experiencing the silence and awareness.
Please close your eyes and take a posture that is comfortable for you.
Hands in your lap,
Shoulders down,
Head,
Neck and back aligned,
Alert,
Yet relaxed.
Silence of the body.
Allowing the body to find its stillness.
Not forcing anything on your body.
Allowing stillness in your body to arise.
In that stillness,
There is silence.
Silence.
Silence of the mind.
Not forcing anything on your mind.
Allowing it to settle.
In that settling is silence.
Silence.
Silence of the heart.
Silence.
Simply sitting in this silence,
Stillness of the body,
The mind,
Of the heart.
Silence.
From action to inaction.
From movement to stillness.
These moments meditate upon Bhairava.
The source.
The source.
The presence in silence.
Silence.
Silence.
Silence.
Silence.
Silence.
Beyond bondage and liberation.
Silence.
Silence.
Silence.
Meditate upon Bhairava.
Be one with Bhairava.
Silence.
Words of silence deeper than your body,
Your mind,
Your heart.
Silence.
Silence.
What are you holding back for?
Bhairava is right here.
Be one with Bhairava.
Absolute silence.
Silence.
Silence.
Realizing this silence.
Caring the taste of this silence as you come back to your heart,
To your mind,
To your body.
Silence.
And very gently and slowly you may open your eyes.
Nothing more can be said about this silence.
Taking this to your daily life.
If you wish to give back to these sessions,
You may donate or share this silence with your friends and family.
Namaste.
