Greetings and salutations.
My name is Dez and this is a meditation with anti-carceral affirmations.
This meditation may be done in any position or shape you feel most comfortable and supported in,
Whether that is seated,
Laying down,
Standing,
Or even walking.
Sometimes it may seem as if the spaces we are in are rooted in punishment and a lack of care.
This may take a toll on our soul.
These affirmations remind us that our inner compass of compassion will not be steered by the systems in place that are built to bring us down.
We will rise.
It is on us to build communities of care and trust.
You have the power.
We have the power.
We are in this together.
Take a few deep,
Expansive breaths.
Feel where the inhales arrive in your body and allow the breath to flow freely as you exhale.
Take a few more breaths to allow yourself to ground into whatever space you are in.
Honor what may arise as we move through these affirmations.
Remind yourself that your breath is here to nourish you.
Open your mind's eye or,
Out loud,
Repeat after me.
I support systems of care and accountability that honor human dignity.

I trust in the power of community to support its members.

I commit to learning and unlearning practices that maintain harm.

I am dedicated to creating spaces of safety,
Understanding,

Gently come back to your breath.
Take any little movements you may need.
Perhaps rub your hands together.
Feel the warmth between your palms.
Press your hands to your heart center or belly,
Allowing yourself to simply be coming back to yourself,
Remembering you are powerful.
We are powerful.
We are in this together.
Thank you for joining me today.
I hope you are able to trust in yourself and in the power of community.
Remember we are all worthy of well-being and care.
Take good care of yourself and each other.
