Everywhere we go becomes a place of connection. When we choose to pause, breathe and remember our stillness we may step into our inward freedom. Take time for a few minutes with me to discover meditation set within a busy biscuit restaurant and cafe in downtown Anchorage, Alaska.

Hey everybody,

Happy Thursday.

Well today's an interesting day because I'm at the biscuit club on a Thursday morning and I thought it'd be the perfect place to sit for a few moments of meditation.

It's true.

I'm sure you have places that you frequent,

Coffee shops,

Tea shops,

Cafes.

These places you go and you work.

All these places can be places where you find moments of mindfulness and you can practice meditation.

So I'm just sitting here talking to my mic and I have my ear pods on,

I'll be honest,

Just so that if someone looks at me they think I'm talking on the telephone.

But actually I'm getting ready to meditate and behind me there's all these wonderful sounds.

The espresso machine,

The occasional tapping on the grill and the smells,

Just a lot of yumness,

Butter,

Eggs,

Biscuits,

The smell of coffee.

What I see are all these wonderful vibrant colors of a breakfast cafe.

Local artists,

Stickers,

All the intentional things that are laid out to create a space.

So here we are.

I'm going to keep my eyes lightly open but I'm going to suggest that you either close your eyes or soften your gaze.

We're just going to do this for a couple of minutes.

We're just going to center and as I start to relax into the booth that I'm resting in as I begin to become aware of my breath I invite you to get comfortable in your body.

Take in your surroundings and then start to breathe with a little bit of intention.

We're going to drop right in.

So next time you breathe,

Feel the breath rolling in through the nostrils all the way down to the belly and then a soft,

Soft exhale coming out the mouth.

Your facial gesture is just calm and relaxed.

No one even knows you're meditating but you're just sitting wherever you are listening,

Breathing in through the nose and as you exhale letting the breath roll out through the lips.

Remember all of your surroundings are just friendly reminders from the outside that you're going inward right now.

We're going to take 12 intentional breaths,

Just 12 and then we'll end and we'll go on our way.

So here we go officially dropping in biscuit club meditation.

Deep inhales,

Longer exhales,

Breathing in through the nose and breathing out through the mouth.

All breath moving in and out of the belly.

If you've lost count,

Take a few more breaths.

All the world around you reminding you of your inward stillness.

All of the sounds,

The sights,

The smells,

The sensations all encouraging you to continue in this process breathing in and breathing out as you meditate,

As you find your relaxed awareness right here and right now.

I'm going to take two more breaths,

Doesn't matter how many you've taken,

Just take these with me,

Breathe in deep,

Top of the inhale,

Hold on to your breath for a moment.

The exhale let the breath roll out,

The bottom of the exhale just pause and now let the inhale roll into you.

All the way to fullness,

All the way,

All the way and then just pause as the breath fills you completely.

And you exhale all the way out.

You pause for a moment and then let the breath return.

Well my friends,

Breathe in,

Move your body a little bit,

Breathe out and you are ready to go on your day.

Biscuit Club meditation,

Practice being relaxed and aware wherever you are.

Shanti Shanti Shanti my friends.

Very lovely meditation. Nice that it was done in a coffee shop!

That was a fun yet purposeful practice, for me an opportunity to experiment since I've always meditated with little or no external sound. You definitely made your point, and I plan to validate it further when social distancing no longer keeps me from public venues. Thank you! Be safe.
