I want you to find a comfortable position.
You can sit,
Or you can lie down,
Whatever feels right for your body right now.
You don't have to do anything special,
And you don't have to look a certain way or hold your hands in a specific position.
Just get comfortable.
Now what I want you to do is just close your eyes.
Take a slow breath in through your nose,
And then let it out through your mouth.
I'm going to do that again.
Take a slow,
Deep breath in through your nose,
And then let it out through your mouth.
Now just let your breathing find its own rhythm.
You don't have to control it from here.
Just let it do what it does.
Now I want you to notice your body for a second.
I don't need you to fix anything,
And you don't need to judge anything.
Just notice where you're holding tension,
And then let it soften a little.
Let your shoulders,
Your jaw,
Your hands.
Just let them relax.
You're not here to perform anything.
You're not here to prove anything.
You're just here to be open for a few minutes,
And that's it.
Now I want you to think about the person or the animal that you want to connect with today.
You don't have to pull up a specific memory or force anything into focus.
Just let them come to mind naturally.
Their name,
Their face,
Or maybe a feeling you associate with them.
Whatever shows up first.
Now either out loud or in your head,
Just say something simple to them.
For example,
If you're around me,
Send me something today that I'll recognize.
You can say this in your own way,
In your own words,
And it doesn't have to sound spiritual or formal.
Just say it like you'd say it to them if they were standing right in front of you.
Now here's the part a lot of people struggle with.
Let it go.
You said it,
And that's enough.
You don't have to repeat it six more times.
You don't have to already be looking for the sign.
You don't have to earn it either.
I want you to take another slow breath in.
And then gently let it out.
I want you to just sit here for a moment and stay open.
Don't force anything.
There's no need for anticipation.
Just stay open.
If something comes up,
A feeling,
A memory,
A thought,
A face,
Just let it come.
Don't grab at it and don't push it away.
Just let it be there.
Now whether you noticed something or you didn't,
This continues throughout the day.
If you got something here,
You're going to keep getting stuff.
And if you didn't get anything,
It'll most likely happen later on.
Don't stop paying attention.
Just stay aware.
And when you're ready,
I want you to take another slow breath in.
And then let it out.
Now start to bring your awareness back into the room.
Feel where your body meets the chair,
The floor,
The bed,
And then wiggle your fingers and toes.
And when you feel ready,
Open your eyes.
Now go notice what shows up today.
Write it down if something catches your attention.
And that's it.
That's all you have to do.
Ask.
Let them know that you're here and just be aware.
Your loved ones are closer than you think.
