Thank you for joining me today for this guided meditation where together we will be releasing our attachment to outcomes.
A challenge we all face when working on ourselves is finding a way to balance our passions and a healthy detachment to outcomes.
While goals and dreams are a fundamental part of living,
Being overly attached to the achievement of those goals can be a detriment to our mental equanimity.
It's not that we should let go of our dreams,
Only that we should be focused on the process of pursuing them rather than obsessing over the results we hope to achieve.
Through the releasing of our attachment to outcomes we can find peace in our day to day life and we'll find we're able to pursue those very same dreams without the pressure and anxiety we so often saddle ourselves with,
Allowing us to not only live more joyous lives but to also accelerate our progress towards these very same goals.
So today we come together with the intention of purging ourselves of the unhealthy need we have to achieve.
We let go of our focus on the outcomes we desire and we allow ourselves to come into harmony with the flow of our lives,
Trusting fully that the universe has heard our dreams and will take us toward them naturally,
Trusting that the universe will provide us with all we need.
Having set this intention,
Let us set it aside for now and find a peaceful presence by focusing on our breath.
If you haven't already,
Please come to find a comfortable position,
Seated or lying down,
And bring your attention onto your breath.
Without naming or judging,
Watch your breath's natural rhythms.
Feel the coldness on the tip of your nose as you inhale.
Feel it moving up your nasal passage and entering your sinuses.
Feel it moving down into your lungs.
And when you exhale,
Feel the warmth escaping you.
Find any tension you may be harboring within your body and release it.
Scan your whole body from the top of your head and the muscles in your face to the tips of your toes.
Feel the life force you're breathing in,
Reaching those tensions and releasing them.
Let yourself relax.
Really sink in here,
Finding a steady,
Comfortable rhythm.
Now,
I want you to bring to mind the goals you have for yourself in life,
The things you strive to achieve.
Many of us have a very long list.
This list is sometimes composed of creative goals or professional achievements or relationships we wish to cultivate.
Whatever your dreams are,
Bring them to mind now.
See how you've let your desire for these things turn,
On occasion,
To anxiety.
See how you've sometimes beat yourself up for not being more productive or not seeing more progress.
See how you've gotten in the way of your own peace,
How you've denied yourself happiness as if it was something you first needed to earn.
And realize that you can have it all.
There's no need to pit your dreams against your day-to-day peace.
Decide,
Here and now,
To let go of your attachment to these results you wish to achieve.
Instead,
Holding on to the passions you have and enjoying the moment-to-moment joy the pursuit of these brings you.
And so,
Having brought all this to mind,
We deepen our breath,
Beginning now to alchemize all our attachment to the outcomes of these dreams into deep breath.
So breathe deep,
And let the pace of your breath begin to increase.
We are alchemists,
And we are choosing to transmute that which is no longer serving us into deep breath.
Deep breathing as you feel weight lifting from your shoulders.
Let specific attachments you may have carried with you come to mind,
And watch them change into deep,
Powerful breathing.
Feel yourself being freed from the anxieties of need.
Feel yourself being freed from the prison of over-attachment.
Feel the peace flooding in,
And just keep breathing.
Know that you deserve to be happy.
Right now,
And every day,
There's nothing you need to do to earn that.
You are worthy of peace as you are.
And just keep breathing deeply,
Letting the rhythm of your breath steadily increase.
If any wavering thoughts pop up,
Choose to alchemize those into deep breath.
And find yourself becoming free of stress.
See yourself unconcerned by the future.
Find yourself trusting that the universe will take you exactly where you need to go.
Continuing to breathe deeply,
Feel a smile growing on your face.
Feel yourself laughing inside at how over-serious you've allowed yourself to become.
Let your inner child shine forth,
Joyously engaged in the present moment.
Now,
Allow your breath to again find a more natural and steady pace.
And let go of all thought.
Let go of all focus.
Feeling that our alchemization has been effective,
And that the universe will see us through to where we need to be.
Just relax here.
Going back now to our bodies.
Having established a peaceful presence,
Untainted by the need for accomplishment.
Set the intention of carrying this with you throughout your days.
And know you are a powerful alchemist and can return here anytime using this same technique to transmute anything that no longer serves you into deep breath,
Seeing it leave you in peace.
Coming back to your body now.
Wiggle your fingers and toes.
Feel the space around you.
And when you're ready,
Open your eyes.
