Hello and welcome to this mindful eating meditation.
Before we begin to eat our meal,
Let's take a moment of gratitude.
Grateful for every sequence,
For every step that had to take place for this food to reach our plate.
Maybe to the people who picked the vegetables or fruit.
The people who packed and delivered them to the store,
To the markets.
The people who planted the crops or harvested them.
And thank you for the life,
The prana,
The energy of this food,
Of this sustenance.
I'm grateful for those who crafted the plates,
The cutlery,
The where that we eat our food from.
Grateful for where we eat our food.
In our home,
Maybe outdoors,
At a table that was thoughtfully crafted or manufactured.
Grateful for the seat,
The floor,
The cushion,
Whatever it is you're sitting on.
And when you begin to eat,
I invite you to be conscious of the food as it enters your mouth.
Before you eat,
Notice the smell,
The temperature,
The color of the food.
And as you're chewing,
Notice the texture.
Can you chew slowly?
Notice which teeth and which part of the mouth you use.
Notice where your tongue is in your mouth.
Feel as the saliva in the mouth builds to assist in digesting the food.
Notice as you swallow the food entering the body.
And maintaining this feeling of gratitude,
Absorbing the nutrients and energy that you need from this sustenance.
Allow it to nourish your body with each and every bite.
And as you finish your meal,
Take a moment again to express gratitude for the nourishment you have received.
