Welcome to Yoga Nidra for the full moon.
Begin by lying on your back in Savasana.
Make yourself comfortable.
The feet are apart.
The arms are slightly away from the body,
With the palms upwards.
Close your eyes.
Give yourself time to become calm and steady.
Take a deep breath,
And as you do so,
Feel calmness spreading throughout the body.
Enter we now a place that is void of space and time,
A gateway between the worlds.
Attune to the full moon.
Keep your awareness on your breath.
Observe the pattern of your breath,
But do not alter it.
Just be aware of it,
And do not fall asleep.
Inhale love and light.
Exhale what no longer serves you.
Now silently set your resolve or sankalpa.
This is a goal or intention you wish to set for yourself.
Make this a short,
Positive statement.
You can set your own intention,
Or repeat to yourself,
I am filled with the energy of the moon.
Repeat this intention to yourself three times with your full attention,
Knowing that it will take root in your consciousness and be known to the universe.
Recall upon the elements of earth,
Air,
Fire,
Water,
And spirit.
Recall upon the lord and the lady.
May they be present with you right now,
Protecting and nourishing you.
So mote it be.
Mother moon,
Provider of life itself and protector of the wicca,
Thee do we honor.
Now bring awareness to different parts of the body,
Starting from the feet and moving upwards,
Letting go of any tension.
Bring awareness to the toes,
The left toes,
The right toes,
The soles of the feet,
The tops of the feet,
The ankles,
The calves,
And the knees.
Let them soften and relax.
Now bring your awareness to the lower back,
Middle back,
And upper back.
Allow the muscles to soften and the spine to rest.
Notice the shoulders and allow them to release any tension you might be storing.
Now the arms,
Relaxing the upper arms,
Elbows,
Forearms,
And hands.
The fingers soften and relax.
Bring awareness to the neck,
The throat.
Allow the jaw and surrounding muscles to soften.
Allow the forehead and scalp to completely relax.
Feel the body as a whole in a state of deep rest and relaxation.
Now bring awareness to the whole body and the earth,
The whole body in relation to the earth.
Become aware of the meeting points of the body and the earth.
These are very subtle physical points between the body and earth.
Awareness of all the meeting points between the body and the earth.
The sensation of all points simultaneously.
Feel these points clearly and distinctly,
But do not go to sleep.
As you continue to breathe naturally,
Begin to notice any sensations in the body.
You might feel warmth,
Coolness,
Lightness,
Heaviness.
Simply observe these sensations without judgment or expectations.
Allow yourself to experience whatever is present,
Accepting these feelings as part of your current experience.
Do not fall asleep.
Now imagine yourself in a forest on the night of the full moon.
You feel protected and safe in this place.
Perhaps you notice a breeze blowing gently or hear the sounds of an owl in the distance.
Whatever sounds you observe,
Acknowledge them and allow them to just be there.
As you walk deeper into the forest,
You come upon a cauldron.
You walk up to the cauldron and notice that it is filled with water,
Clear water that reflects the night sky,
The full moon.
This cauldron is a portal between you and the moon.
What messages are you receiving from the moon?
Take a few moments now to absorb the full moon speaking to you.
Goddess of the moon so bright,
On this night I reflect your light.
I gaze upon your divine face.
I feel the magic of your embrace.
Attune to the full moon.
Now recall the intention or sankalpa you said at the beginning of this practice.
Silently repeat it to yourself three times mindfully.
Allowing it to deepen within you.
Gradually bring your awareness back to the present.
Feel the earth beneath you once again.
Take a moment here,
Resting.
At your own pace,
Invite subtle movements into your fingers and toes.
Gently bring yourself back to a seated position.
When you feel ready,
Open your eyes and walk in love and light the rest of your day.
Blessed Be.
