This is a meditation for those who are suffering disappointment.
Maybe disappointment on quite a large scale.
Something that may seem even at the moment overwhelming.
Take a moment to allow yourself to be settled.
Sitting comfortably on a cushion,
Couch or chair.
Noticing first of all your connection with the cushion or the floor.
Feeling into your seat bones.
And noticing how they connect,
They sink into the surface below.
And how you are supported,
You are held,
You are kept safe.
Remember this.
Reflect on this wonderful gift of holding,
Even during difficult and challenging times.
In a moment of silence you may want to close your eyes.
Letting go as best you can of troubling feelings and thoughts.
Noticing them when they come and remembering to come back to this practice.
Remembering the holding that you have.
And remembering that you can always choose to be present right where you are.
So letting go as best you can of what may be causing you a lot of grief at the moment,
Sadness,
A sense of what might have been.
Allowing yourself to accept this new situation and to meet it with a promise to respond positively.
To not allow it to unsettle you or to wear you down or cause you grief.
Resolve to move forward in a new chapter.
A chapter yet to be written and unknown,
Even though it may seem like the rules are already written.
Letting go of any troubling thoughts,
Troubling feelings.
Troubling feelings.
And opening now to receiving,
Caring,
Loving kindness,
Compassion for yourself.
Inviting this.
Maybe you have a faith tradition and call upon this benevolent universe or the God of your understanding.
Maybe you call upon your deeply rooted ground of being,
Your higher self,
Your source.
Asking for this outflowing of blessing,
Of light,
Of healing.
To bring you comfort,
To encourage you in this time of sadness and disappointment.
No need to think about this,
Just having an openness,
A readiness to receive.
Opening your heart.
Opening your heart.
As you let go,
As you breathe out,
You may wish to say to yourself,
I let go of anything,
Any energy,
Any thought or feeling that isn't serving me.
Knowing that I can't change the situation.
Knowing that going over time and again in my mind what is happening.
Will not bring me forward.
And knowing too that in the fullness of time,
There will be happier days.
There will be a way forward.
There will be reason to celebrate,
To be happy.
Letting go and receiving compassionate,
Healing,
Serene,
Pure light.
This universal love that does not judge.
The only motive is caring,
Protecting,
Uplifting,
And healing.
Breathing this in,
Welcoming this light.
Knowing that you are loved,
You are valued,
Your opinion matters.
Knowing too that while it may not be clear right now,
There may be a reason for your own good,
For what has happened,
For this disappointment,
For this sadness,
For this disappointment.
Something that cannot be seen or anticipated.
Or maybe something that helps you come to terms with a challenge in life.
And by meeting this imposter and triumphing over it,
Not being brought down or defeated by it.
You will become stronger,
You will grow.
You will learn.
Take a moment now gently to allow yourself to become aware of sensations in the body,
Physical sensations,
The touch of your clothes,
The feel of the temperature,
Noises that may be in the background.
Noises that may be in the background.
And when you're ready,
Opening your eyes.
