Welcome to this meditation which is intended for people from the Christian tradition.
In the time that we have,
We are setting an invitation and opening ourselves to receiving the Holy Spirit.
While we know that God dwells within us at all times,
This is an affirmation and opening up to receiving ever more fully that precious gift of God's presence in our lives.
Take a moment to settle.
If it's safe where you are,
And this feels comfortable,
You may like to close your eyes.
Setting an intention to find your heart,
To let any thoughts that are occupying your mind just now to just pass by,
To not distract you from this intention.
We know that every breath that we take connects us with God.
So taking a few deliberately deep,
Refined breaths now,
Noticing where the breath travels to as you inhale.
Letting it settle,
And then releasing.
If you're in a place,
Perhaps where you have some privacy,
Or where you don't feel self-conscious,
You may like to stretch out an arm,
Or both arms,
With your palms facing upwards,
As though both greeting and inviting the Holy Spirit into your life right now.
As you do this,
Or as you intentionally hold out in some other way,
Asking God now,
Let me be open,
Open my heart.
Fill me with your light,
Your love,
Your Spirit.
I welcome you,
Counselor,
Comforter,
My God.
Holy Spirit.
And as you feel able,
Opening that request into an affirmation,
Father God,
I am open to receiving you,
To receiving fully your Spirit into my life.
Ready to be guided,
To surrender myself to what you have to teach me,
And where you will lead me.
I know that with your guidance,
I have nothing to fear.
Come now,
Holy Spirit,
Please come.
As you hold this intention,
You may like to speak the words that Jesus would have spoken in his own language,
Aramaic.
Ruka da Kutcha.
Holy Spirit.
Perfect.
Pure.
Immaculate.
Holy.
Ruka da Kutcha.
Ruka da Kutcha.
Or if you prefer just the English,
Come,
Holy Spirit,
Come.
See if you can feel that request,
As though you were yearning to receive more of God's beautiful Spirit into your life.
To fill you,
Knowing that your body is a vessel,
One that is your choice.
To be open to receiving God more fully into every part of your life.
Trusting him,
Coming ever more closely to know his presence,
To be united with him.
Saying those words,
As it were,
From the heart.
Ruka da Kutcha.
Come,
Holy Spirit.
And take just a few moments in silence now,
As you hold out this invitation,
This readiness,
Expectant,
And knowing that you are blessed.
Being grateful now,
As we bring this short time to a close with a simple prayer.
Father God,
Thank you for your love,
For your promise,
For your eternal gift of your Spirit.
I am here to serve you.
I desire always to honor you.
You fill my heart with joy.
You bring me comfort.
Draw me ever closer to you.
I am ready,
Lord.
Bless me now.
Thank you.
I ask in the precious name of Jesus.
Amen.
Thank you.
Go well.
Stay safe.
