Aloha,
My name is Rev.
Cindy Pollis,
And I thought I'd talk to you today about the attitude of gratitude.
Time and time again,
I have found that gratitude is really one of the greatest teachers you can have.
It's such a great gift that it gives back.
So much to you.
When you are aware of what you've got.
And the interesting thing is most of us aren't really always aware of all that we have and how lucky we really are.
We're so lucky.
And when you practice the attitude of gratitude,
You take the time to stop.
And just recognize some of the gifts that you've got in your life.
And I've always liked to say,
Pick five things that you're grateful for.
You know,
And really take the time to go down the list of what you're grateful for,
And it's not hard to do.
You know,
Right now I'm looking at the blue sky.
It's summertime here on Maui,
And I've got a beautiful tree that is so big and very healthy outside.
I got the wind blowing through it,
And it's just a beautiful,
Magical day.
You know,
I'm grateful for being here in this very special place.
And I'm very,
Very grateful that I can take the time to talk to you.
Of gratitude.
You know,
There's so many things.
You can just go down the list of your friends,
You know.
Your family,
You know,
Or maybe your pets if you have pets.
You will find as you go down the list to be grateful for five things.
That you will start to sense a change in your attitude.
And you'll start to kind of feeling opening,
A beautiful realization of how.
Blessed and how lucky you really are.
And we happen to be so blessed to be able to live in.
A place for me,
Maui,
But if you're in the U.
S.
,
You've got a lot going on there and there's other places in the world,
You know,
You have a lot of gifts that you can share.
That other third world countries may not have.
And it's so interesting because I've traveled quite a bit and gone to quite a few third world countries.
And sometimes I've seen the people there be very,
Very happy people when they didn't have much of anything.
So the attitude of gratitude.
Can really change your state of mind and it can also change your awareness.
And once you start looking for those things to be grateful for,
Knowing that you're going to do that,
Looking for five things you're grateful for,
You'll notice more.
Because the mind and the brain is kind of trained that way.
You program up,
I'm going to do this.
Well,
OK,
It'll work for you doing that.
So it's so beautiful and I have found also,
So if you have friends or if you have family that you're grateful for.
To be able to verbalize.
And to really tell the people that you're grateful for them being in your life.
You will just see something light up in them.
Probably most always a smile comes to their face.
And they give you a hug or their eyes will just light up.
And you'll see this is a contagious,
Wonderful thing to share.
And almost they'll also say back to you,
Like,
I'm so grateful for you as well.
So you're sharing this wonderful energy and awareness.
And as you do that,
It's a valuable,
Valuable thing that you can.
Share that gratefulness and create that energy field of love that can be recognized.
And it's so wonderful and it's absolutely free.
It doesn't cost a thing,
You know.
Is just taking the time to realize.
How blessed and how lucky you really are.
And verbalizing it,
Exchanging it,
Communicating it.
Always does work so beautifully and is a gift.
That will be so valuable.
And other people may start to do the same thing as they get inspired by that.
They may also take the time to tell someone else.
How they care and they appreciate and how they're grateful for that person in their life.
It's such a beautiful,
Wonderful gift.
I just had to take the time.
To share this wonderful,
This wonderful gift.
It's a Reiki practice.
One of the Reiki practices is the attitude of gratitude.
And so I've been doing Reiki all my life,
Pretty much a long,
Long time.
So I've found always,
You know,
That sometimes the basics,
The most simple basic things are the most important.
And I just wanted to share that with you today because I really do.
Appreciate you being there and I am very grateful for you taking the time to listen.
It means a lot to me and I hope you can take that energy and share it with others as well.
So a deep bow of gratitude.
