Look at this whole society,
The whole civilization.
The mind is trapped by pleasure.
So we can say it is a drugged society.
Meditation is detour,
Detox of selfs from this narcotic state by thoughts,
By pleasure.
To return to a state where there is joy.
The drug has its addiction,
Has its thought effect,
Strong thought effect.
But the original,
The joy,
Has no addiction.
Because one can't seek it,
One can't invite it.
It is very safe,
Isn't it?
Of course,
There's no thought effect.
Meditation is to live a peaceful and joyful life.
And this is the greatest wisdom ever.
To do that,
We have to empty the mind,
Empty the knowing.
Me,
This concept is the knowing.
The name,
The history,
The family,
The all kinds of record,
Past education,
Experience,
Job,
Position,
Title.
All the things that make us feel proud or depressed.
The me,
Empty the me,
Empty the source of the pleasure.
Over here,
There's me.
There's all kinds of wanting,
Craving,
Seeking.
And in that state of me,
There's no peace.
So to meditate is to empty the me.
Observe at this moment.
Observe the mind without me,
Without the observer.
So we can really see how the mind takes pleasure,
How the mind relies on pleasure,
And how the suffering comes into being because of the pleasure seeking.
Understand totally the life we have been living.
In that total understanding,
The mind transforms itself.
In that transformation,
There's no control,
There's no suppression,
Not just active observance,
Vouching,
Perceive,
Understand totally.
Then the mind becomes quiet.
