In this meditation, Cheri reminds you that in this moment. . . the moment while you are listening to my voice. . . you are safe. A lot is happening in our world right now: worldwide pandemic, social unrest, and economic uncertainty. It's natural for these times to cause us to feel off our axis and fearful of what our future will look like. While much in our world is hard and challenging, there is also so much goodness and beauty. Listen to this when you need to acknowledge that you

Take a moment and let's ground.

I invite you to sit in a position that's comfortable for you,

Kind of wiggle in your seat to make sure you're completely being supported by what you're sitting on.

And imagine that you've got roots growing from your fanny down into the earth that's really grounded,

You're solidly grounded into the earth.

And then also imagine that you're opening up in your head and your shoulders and there's an opening where you're connecting to the vastness way above yourself to things all outside of yourself so you're both connected below and above and all around.

And as you're sitting there I'd like you to breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth.

Do it once again in through your nose and out through your mouth.

And as I speak I invite you to keep breathing in this pattern in through your nose and out through your mouth.

In this moment,

This very moment that you are listening to my words,

You are safe.

There is no tiger on your tail even though you may fear there is.

Open your eyes if you don't believe me and see that I'm right.

In this moment,

In this moment you are simply sitting and listening to my voice.

I imagine that there are times these days that you are envisioning a bleak future.

There is immense trauma and drama all around us.

There is disease and dissension and desperation.

Our world is filled with sadness and anger and a big wet blanket of hopelessness.

When we see this,

It is human to begin to believe that our collective future is bleak.

That our individual future is bleak and will be filled with negativity.

These feelings are natural when we don't feel safe.

It is normal to live in fear when we don't feel safe.

But you are safe in this moment,

This very moment that you are listening to my words.

You are safe.

There is no tiger on your tail even though you may fear there is.

You can check.

There is no tiger on your tail.

In this moment,

You are simply sitting and listening to my voice.

Despite what your brain may tell you,

You cannot know the future.

When we're scared,

We visualize a future where bad things happen or at least the good things will elude us.

When we're scared,

We tend to believe that our feelings are facts,

But they're not.

Feelings are not facts.

The world right now is also filled with goodness and truth tellers and servant leaders.

It is filled with beauty and possibility and abundance.

When we know we are safe,

When we know we are safe,

We can see this beauty.

When we know we are safe,

We can step into this abundance.

We can live from this positive place.

We can contribute to the world's healing.

You are safe in this moment,

This very moment that you are listening to my words.

You are safe.

There is no tiger on your tail even though you may fear there is.

Open your eyes and see that I am right in this moment.

You are simply sitting and listening to my voice.

Your scared self is not clairvoyant.

From a place of fear,

You cannot predict what will happen tomorrow,

Six months or a year from now,

Or 10 years from now.

Fear will not tell you the truth,

But it's okay to be scared,

Dear one.

It's okay to be fearful.

Resist judging yourself for this natural response to life these days.

But when you recognize you feel fearful,

Remember you are safe.

In this moment,

You are safe.

There is no tiger on your tail.

You are safe.

Notice how your body responds to your fear.

Notice where your shoulders are.

Are they tight and raised up toward your ears?

If so,

Gently lower them,

Stretching your neck gently to the right and to the left.

If you've been stressed for a while,

And many of us have,

Lowering your shoulders may feel strange because you're used to them being clenched.

Unclench your shoulders and your neck muscles and say to yourself,

I am safe.

Unclench anything in your body that feels tight.

Unclench it,

Release it,

And tell yourself,

I am safe.

Taking a deep breath through your nose,

Release it out your mouth,

In through your nose,

And out through your mouth.

Now repeat after me.

I am safe.

I can relax.

There is nothing in this moment that can harm me.

I am safe.

As I relax and know that I am safe,

I can access what I need.

I can find answers to my deepest questions.

I can find energy to take the actions that lead me to the life I want.

As I relax and know that I am safe,

I can tap into my loving and creative brilliance.

I can find the peace and the answers I crave.

I can know exactly what I need to do.

I can have clarity about what I can release or stop doing,

And I can have clarity about what I want to add to my life.

I am safe,

And therefore I can use that energy to create the life I want,

One day at a time,

One moment at a time.

I can remember that placing my hand over my heart,

Taking three long deliberate breaths,

Will bring me back into my body.

And it is in my body where I find peace.

I am safe.

I am safe.

I am safe.

I invite you to open your eyes and take in one last deep breath.

Until next time.

Sigh. Thank you for offering this calming meditation. I am struggling with being fearful of getting sick. But at least for a few minutes I was able to relax.
