This recording helps you be kind to yourself. The wonderful thing about kindness is it makes us feel wonderful. It's a beautiful act of love to show ourselves kindness. We deserve this kindness because we are alive.

Hi,

This is Brooks and thank you for joining me.

It's good to be here with you.

So today we're gonna talk about kindness.

Specifically kindness to yourself.

And the great thing about being kind to yourself is you don't even have to deserve it.

What I mean?

Like sometimes we're so used to doing something special for somebody if they do something really great.

Even for ourselves.

You know sometimes it's like you know I'm gonna treat myself to this because I've worked really hard or I did this or I didn't do that which was beneficial to me and I really want to do something nice,

Something kind.

But I think kindness is something we can do for ourselves at any time.

And the great thing about it is we respond really well to kindness.

We have a positive reaction to it.

When we're kind to ourselves it feels really good.

So we don't have to have achieved anything or accomplished anything special because right now you're alive.

That's a really big deal.

Being alive is a big deal.

We don't think about it.

We often don't notice it but being alive is if we're not alive then nothing's of any value.

So you're alive and that's that's a good reason to be kind to yourself.

I'm alive.

It's simple.

It's a simple way to treat ourselves well.

And I get it.

You know sometimes we think that we need to accomplish something great to reward ourselves but that's because we grew up in that environment.

You know school school will teach us if you do well you get rewarded.

You get good grades.

You know you get recognized for your achievements.

And you also get punished for not doing well.

You know so most of us grew up in that environment so that we have to earn.

Earn rewards.

The best reward that we can give ourselves is kindness and we can do it because we're alive.

That's enough of a reason.

You're here.

You exist.

Regardless of what's happening in your life currently you're here.

You're alive.

And that's a wonderful thing.

And being kind is honoring that wonderful thing.

I'm alive.

Because I'm alive I'm gonna be kind to myself.

It's a if you need a reason that's a really good reason.

And how you want to be kind yourself is up to you.

There's so many different things that you could do it.

It all depends on what you feel is kind.

Everyone's gonna have a different answer for themselves.

But what would it mean to be kind to you?

For you to be kind to you.

What would that look like?

What could that be?

What would you do for yourself?

It could be a small thing.

It could be a big thing.

It could be a medium-sized thing.

It doesn't matter.

It's the attention that makes a big deal.

Kindness is a sweet intention.

Attention.

It feels good to receive kindness.

Oftentimes we think,

Oh what I get this thing or accomplish this.

Then I'll feel good.

You know I need those things.

I need to have those things,

Do those things,

Be those things to feel good.

But we can actually feel good right now by being kind to ourselves.

Because essentially that's all we really want.

The nurturing that comes from being kind.

That's what we're really looking for.

And again the great thing is you don't have to do anything or earn it.

It's doable right now.

How can I be kind to myself?

What could I do?

You can be curious about that.

You know curiosity is openness.

So when you're feeling curious it's like I wonder what I could do to be kind to myself.

You'll see what comes up for you.

You know again there's no right or wrong answer.

Even just considering being kind to yourself is a big deal.

It makes a difference.

It opens your heart.

And that's an incredibly sweet feeling.

So I encourage you to discover what a kind thing would be for you and to go ahead and give it a try.

See what it feels.

See what it feels like to be nice to yourself.

And whatever way,

Whatever comes to you.

And maybe you'll really like it.

Maybe you'll want to be kind to yourself more than once.

You know there's no limit.

Or you know I have to be kind to myself this many times.

Whenever you feel like it and whatever you feel like giving to yourself.

To be kind.

It's an open and spontaneous thing.

There's no I have to be kind to myself or I have to be kind to myself this many times or I wasn't kind to myself today.

Like oh my god what's wrong with me.

It's like it's just real simple.

What can I do to be kind to myself and then doing it and enjoying it.

So I wish you the best and take care.
