My name is Julia and today we'll be adding a little bit of mindfulness to our skincare routine.
Since skincare is already an act of self-care,
Adding these practices can supercharge their effect and leave us in a more positive headspace.
This practice is meant to be done alongside your normal skincare routine.
Before we start,
Giving your entire body a gentle shake or wiggle and finding a comfortable position,
Either sitting or standing.
Closing the eyes for just a moment and inhaling as deeply as is comfortable.
With your exhale,
Starting to clear any negative thoughts that are cluttering your brain.
As you open your eyes,
You begin to see yourself before the mirror.
Bringing your awareness to your reflection with a soft gaze,
Take this moment to acknowledge yourself fully.
Noticing the details of your face,
Your expression and your presence.
Without judgment and without trying to change anything.
If there's something that you notice that feels negative,
Uncomfortable or even unwanted,
Just acknowledging that thought.
Not trying to change anything,
Not trying to shift anything.
Giving yourself a smile and holding your own gaze for a few seconds as you do so.
Picking out one thing that you're loving about your appearance in this moment and complimenting yourself on it.
Saying this compliment out loud to yourself as you continue to gaze into the mirror.
Now,

Now we'll move on to your regular skincare practice.
I'll walk you through a few typical steps,
But of course feel free to adapt depending on what you're doing.
I'll state some affirmations that you can repeat to yourself with each step of your skincare.
As you cleanse your face,
Feeling any negative emotions or sentiments loosening from your skin,
Ready to be stripped away,
Stating to yourself,
I am washing away all doubts,
Fears,
And worries,
Clearing space for fresh new thing.
As you apply your toner,
Essence,
Or conditioner,
Feeling its soothing effect as the product touches your skin.
Stating to yourself,
I am open to receiving peace and calm.
As you apply your serum,
Feeling the soothing effect as the product touches your skin.
As you apply your serum,
Feeling its nourishing and healing properties.
Stating to yourself,
My skin absorbs love and positivity,
And I radiate from within.
As you apply your eye cream or moisturizer,
Feeling it hydrate and rejuvenate you from the outside in.
Stating to yourself,
I am safe,
Resilient,
And worthy of care.
And as a final step,
Applying your oil or your sunscreen,

Stating to yourself,
I nurture and protect myself,
Inside and out.
As you conclude your routine,
Looking at your face as if you're looking at a loved one,
Breathing in feelings of kindness and compassion,
And then thanking yourself,
Saying this thank you out loud as you hold your gaze.
Taking a moment to notice any shifts since you first looked in the mirror,
Observing yourself in a new light,
And continuing to take in anything you see with acceptance and gratitude.
We'll end our practice with an intention.
This can be a simple word or affirmation,
Such as,
I am worthy of love and care.
Taking a breath in with a sentiment,
And gently pressing your hands over your heart,
Holding this moment,
Gently exhaling as you release.
