Welcome.
My name is Julia,
And I'm really glad you're here.
In this practice,
We'll come together to cultivate feelings of peace within our bodies and minds,
And then we'll use this collective energy to gently radiate peace outward.
There's nothing you need to fix,
Change,
Or get right.
Just be here,
Now.
Take a moment to arrive exactly as you are.
If it feels okay,
Allow your eyes to close or soften your gaze.
Let your body settle into the chair,
The floor,
Or whatever surface you're resting on.
Notice the places where you're already being supported.
Begin by bringing your attention to your breath.
No need to control it,
Simply noticing.
Feel the natural rhythm of the inhale as it enters your body,
And the exhale as it leaves.
Notice where you feel the breath most clearly today.
Maybe it's your chest,
Your abdomen,
Your nostrils,
Or the gentle movement of your ribcage as you breathe in and out.
If your mind wanders,
That's completely normal.
Each time you notice it drifting,
Gently guide your attention back to the sensation of breathing.
On each exhale,
Imagine your body softening just a little.
The jaw unclenches,
The shoulders drop,
The space behind the eyes eases.
Now,
Bring awareness to the center of your chest,
Your heart space.
Our hearts have always been a center of love and peace within our bodies,
But if there's another area of the body that's calling to you,
Feel free to focus on that instead.
You don't need to visualize anything clearly,
Just sensing is enough.
Imagine breathing into this area,
Inviting in a sense of calm.
As you exhale,
Releasing anything that feels heavy or wrong,
Whether that sensation lies within your body,
Your mind,
Or the world around you.
Continuing like this.
If those feelings of peace and calm feel distant or even unobtainable,
That's okay.
We're not trying to manufacture a feeling,
But creating the conditions that will allow them to come out,
To take root when the time is right.
Every little moment where we're cultivating peace helps in its creation,
Helps it to grow.
So keep breathing here,
Letting that peace be something small and attainable,
A little more ease,
A little more space around your thoughts,
We don't need to change at all to solve it all in this moment.
Now,
Imagine the sense of calm spreading outward from your chest,
Flowing into your shoulders and arms,
Down through the hands and fingers,
Moving through your abdomen and lower back,
Your hips,
Your legs,
All the way down to the tips of your toes.
If you're noticing any areas of tension,
Simply acknowledge them.
You might gently say,
It's okay to be here.
Peace doesn't mean the absence of sensation or emotion.
It means allowing things to be as they are,
Without resistance.
And once we start loosening that resistance,
We make space to allow in all of the beauty,
The wonder,
The calm,
The peace that we're seeking.
Feel your body as a whole,
Breathing alive here,
Anchored in this moment.
Now,
Begin to sense the presence of others practicing alongside you,
People in different places,
Leading different lives,
All pausing together.
Imagine the peace you're cultivating within yourself,
Gently extending outward,
Like warmth,
A soft light,
Or simply an intention.
First,
Offer it to yourself,
Then to the space around you,
Your home,
Your neighborhood,
Your community.
And then,
Without effort,
Let it reach even farther,
To the people you love,
To the people you don't know,
To places that feel unsettled or strained.
It's not your job to fix the world,
But each small step that we take towards shifting our own mindset and actions can have a rippling effect.
Resting here for a few breaths,
Holding this quiet intention,
Sending it outwards.
Begin to bring your awareness back to your physical self,
Noticing your breathing once again,
The points of contact between your body and the surface beneath you.
If your eyes are closed,
Gently blink them open whenever you're ready.
Carry this sense of peace with you,
Not as something that's fragile,
But as something that's accessible,
Something you can return to again and again,
Something you can share and radiate outwards.
Thank you so much for practicing with me,
And for taking this time to cultivate a little more peace and calm within the world.
