Hello and welcome!
My name is Julia and I'll be guiding you on this breathwork journey.
For this session,
We're going to be igniting our creativity and inspiring new possibilities.
We'll embark on a journey of self-discovery and inner exploration,
Using the power of our breath to unlock the boundless potential within.
As we experience this session,
I want you to embrace it as an opportunity for growth,
Inspiration,
And transformation,
Tuning into whatever is coming up for you,
And just letting your mind extend beyond any perceived limitations.
In this breathwork practice,
We'll tap into the rhythmic flow of our breath to cultivate a state of heightened awareness and receptivity.
We'll clear away any mental clutter,
Release stagnant energy,
And invite in fresh inspiration.
In order to embody this,
I'd like to ask you to fully surrender to the rhythm of this breath and to the vast expanse of your imagination.
For in this moment,
Anything is possible,
And the realm of creativity knows no bounds.
I'm going to introduce you to the practice that we'll be doing today and giving some additional info on that.
Then we'll settle in for a short meditation followed by our breathwork.
At the end of this session,
I'll give you time to slowly return to the space,
And you can take as much time as you need.
The style of breathing that we'll be using today is called conscious connected breathing,
And this is a really powerful style of breath in which you'll inhale and exhale entirely through the mouth,
So gently opening your jaw almost as if you're biting into an apple or another piece of fruit,
Allowing it to hang open as you inhale sharply and exhale softly without pause at the top or the bottom of the breath.
Keeping that breath circular and keeping it flowing,
There's no beginning,
Middle,
Or end to this practice.
This breathwork can feel a little bit activating sometimes.
If that's happening for you,
If there are any uncomfortable sensations within the body,
I would invite you to just gently close down your mouth and return to breathing in through the nose.
This will return you to a safe and comfortable baseline state.
You're also welcome to vary the speed or the depth of the breath to whatever feels best for you.
Some of the things that might happen with this practice are your mouth might become a little bit dry since we're breathing in and out through it,
So if you just close your mouth for a moment,
This should return to normal.
You can also keep a glass of water nearby in case you need it.
Other things that might happen,
You might notice some tingling or some sort of a vibrating sensation within the body.
This is totally common and it's totally safe,
But if you find this to be too intense or too uncomfortable,
Then just returning to that breath in and out through the nose.
If this is a sensation that you enjoy,
You can continue breathing in and out through the mouth.
Conscious connected breathwork can bring up feelings of intense emotion,
Things like laughter,
Tears,
Creativity,
Even anger,
Just to name a few things.
We'll be tapping into those feelings of creativity today,
But if any other emotions come up,
Always allow your body to express them and to release them,
And know that you can return to that grounding breath in and out through the nose at any point.
There is no right or wrong way to feel during this practice,
So just try to remain open to what it is that you're experiencing,
And know that you can always lessen the intensity as needed.
There are a few conditions that are contraindicated for this practice,
So just stop the video now for one moment and take a look at the list of health conditions that it's advised against practicing conscious connected breathing with.
This is for your safety.
While this is a totally safe practice,
It does cause some changes to the body's pH,
To your blood sugar,
And to your blood pressure and heart rate,
And that's why these medical conditions are contraindicated.
If you have any of these conditions,
Definitely check with your doctor before continuing this practice.
You're welcome to follow along with this video and just breathe in your normal pattern.
I'd like to invite you to get comfortable creating a space for yourself either sitting or lying down away from distractions.
If you choose to sit up,
Making sure that the body is well supported.
You can use headphones to block out external noise,
And you might want to create a little bit of a cocoon for yourself,
So getting a pillow or a bolster,
A blanket in case you get cold,
And I also like to keep some tissues and a glass of water nearby.
I'll be guiding you throughout this entire practice,
So there's no need to worry about remembering any instructions.
While I am here to help guide you,
You are the one that knows your body best,
And you are totally in control of your experience today.
Remembering that that breath in and out through the nose will always be grounding and always be settling,
And if you ever need a break,
Just pausing the practice at any time,
Listening to your body.
We'll begin by taking a nice deep inhale in through the nose,
Sensing any expansion,
Possibility,
Or novelty.
Feeling this air filling up your lungs,
Infusing you with a sense of excitement and anticipation for what lies ahead.
Noticing what comes up for you here.
Thoughts,
Ideas,
Sensations.
Thoughts,
Ideas,
Sensations.
Choosing the ones you wish to amplify,
And using your breath to draw them into the body.
As you exhale through your mouth,
Releasing any tensions or doubts that might be weighing you down.
Releasing any thought patterns,
Any ideas that are held in a pattern of negativity.
Releasing any resistance,
Any expectations,
And any limitations.
Allowing yourself to fully embrace the creative flow that awaits.
As we synchronize our breath with intention,
Let's open ourselves up to the limitless reservoir of creativity that resides within.
With the next breath,
Inhale deeply for a count of four,
Feeling the breath expand in your chest and your belly.
One,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Holding at the top for a moment,
Lingering in that sensation of abundance,
Before exhaling slowly and completely for a count of six.
One,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five,
Six.
Releasing any resistance or hesitation.
Feeling yourself letting go of the old and making space for the new.
Allow each breath to be a surrender to the creative process,
Trusting in the wisdom of your inner muse.
Continuing this pattern of breathing,
Inhaling for a count of four,
Holding at the top,
Exhaling for a count of six.
If this feels a little bit uncomfortable,
Just trying to make your exhales a second or two longer than your inhales.
And as you breathe here,
Beginning to visualize yourself tapping into this infinite wellspring of inspiration that lies within you.
You begin to picture a sparkling stream of light flowing through your body,
Illuminating every corner of your being.
This light shines into your darkest corners,
Bringing any buried ideas to the surface.
As you breathe,
Invite your mind to wander freely,
Exploring new ideas,
Colors,
Shapes,
And sounds.
Allow your imagination to roam wild and untamed,
Without the bounds of logic or reason.
Embracing the joy of creation,
Knowing that each breath carries you closer to your deepest desires and aspirations.
With each breath,
Allow yourself to be a little bit more open and open-minded.
With each inhale,
You feel your creative energy building and expanding,
Like a balloon being filled with air.
With each exhale,
You feel yourself releasing this beauty into the world,
Sending ripples of innovation and beauty out into the universe.
With the next inhale,
Beginning to take those conscious,
Connected breaths,
Allowing the jaw to gently open,
Inhaling deeply in through the mouth,
Exhaling slowly out through the mouth.
Keeping that breath circular,
Seeing that breath as having no beginning,
No middle,
And no end,
Just like your creativity in this moment.
As you breathe in,
You draw in this pure,
Revitalizing energy from the universe,
Infusing every single cell of your being with its vibrant vitality.
As you exhale,
You release any doubts,
Fears,
Or creative blocks that might be holding you back,
Watching them dissipate into the ether.
In this space,
Ideas flow freely,
Uninhibited by judgment or self-doubt.
You embrace the beauty of uncertainty,
Knowing that within it lies the potential for groundbreaking discoveries and profound insights.
Deepening the breath here,
Asking yourself any questions,
Observing the thoughts that come to mind,
Observing the thoughts that come into your mind without judgment,
Breathing through any feelings that might come up,
And remaining open and allowing,
Just letting these feelings pass through you.
In this moment,
You are a conduit for creativity.
You're not forcing anything,
Just allowing and trusting that your breath will provide exactly what it is that you need in this moment.
Increasing the breath to draw in any feelings or sensations that you want to hold on to,
To invite any of those powerful creative ideas to take root.
Using your exhales to continue releasing all of those past versions of yourself,
Any ideas that you no longer associate with,
And anything else that you wish to get rid of from your consciousness.
Breathing more deeply,
As you reach the top of this climb,
Softening the breath now,
And stay breathing with the mouth open for a little bit longer,
But just making that breath a little more shallow,
A little bit softer.
And closing down the mouth if you haven't done so already,
Just letting yourself gently come back to your normal pattern of breathing.
Noticing how the body feels in this moment as you start to come back.
Wiggling,
Stretching,
Shaking,
Doing whatever you need to reconnect with your body and with the space that you're in.
Remaining with your eyes closed for as long as you'd like.
Thanking your body for taking this time today,
For releasing all of those old thoughts and limitations,
For making space and inviting in this new creativity,
These new ideas.
May you continue to leap boldly into the realm of creativity,
Into the realm of the unknown,
Knowing that the possibilities are endless and the journey is yours to create.
We've cleared out a lot today,
So please drink plenty of water,
And if you have the time,
Maybe journal or do a little art project around what it is that you experienced.
Post-breathwork can be a beautiful time for letting that creativity out,
Putting those ideas on paper,
And especially for a breathwork centered around creativity,
Making sure that you take note of what it is that you experienced.
Thank you so much for joining me today,
And I hope to see you again in our next practice.
