We can use the breath to energise,
To balance or to relax the body.
In this practice we'll be energising like a shot of coffee.
This practice is called breath of fire.
So begin by taking a comfortable seated position.
Close your eyes,
Chin parallel to the floor,
Face and shoulders relaxed.
This exercise wakes up and energises the body.
So you can use it first thing in the morning,
Before exercise,
Or maybe if you're having that mid-afternoon slump and you need a little bit of extra energy for your afternoon.
To practice we'll exhale by engaging the muscles of your lower abdomen and forcing the breath out with a sneezing sensation,
Almost like being hit in the belly with a football.
After the sharp exhale we'll relax and just allow the breath to enter all on its own.
Focusing on sharp,
Strong exhales,
Relaxing and allowing the inhale to happen on its own.
It sounds like this.
Let's begin together.
Three,
Two,
One.
Exhale,
Exhale,
Exhale,
Exhale,
Exhale,
Exhale,
Exhale,
Exhale,
Exhale,
Exhale,
Exhale,
Exhale,
Exhale,
Exhale,
Ten,
Nine,
Eight,
Seven,
Six,
Five,
Four,
Three,
Two,
One.
Relax and breathe normally.
Face relaxed,
Shoulders relaxed,
Lower abdomen relaxed.
And we're going to do three rounds.
So let's try again.
Three,
Two,
One.
Exhale,
Exhale,
Exhale,
Exhale,
Exhale,
Exhale,
Exhale,
Exhale,
Exhale,
Exhale,
Exhale,
Exhale,
Ten,
Nine,
Eight,
Seven,
Six,
Five,
Four,
Three,
Two,
One.
And relax and breathe normally.
Face relaxed,
Shoulders relaxed,
Lower abdomen relaxed.
And we'll practice one final round.
Three,
Two,
One.
Exhale,
Exhale,
Exhale,
Exhale,
Exhale,
Exhale,
Exhale,
Exhale,
Exhale,
Exhale,
Ten,
Nine,
Eight,
Seven,
Six,
Five,
Four,
Three,
Two,
One.
And relax and breathe normally.
And notice if the body feels energized and take that into your day.
Ready for whatever you need to use it for.
