Sit comfortably and easily relax into your chair or your cushion with your spine straight,
Feeling your seat against the seat beneath you or the floor beneath you.
Take a few moments to center and arrive.
Take a full deep inhale into your lungs,
Allowing yourself to feel that fullness and freshness of that oxygen.
And exhale slowly releasing and letting go.
For this practice,
I invite you to bring to mind someone in your life that causes you conflict internally that perhaps might be difficult to work with.
Someone in your life that you wish their relationship was smoother.
As you think of this person,
Bring this person into your mind's eye and visualize this person sitting across from you.
And as this person comes in front of you,
Quietly repeat these phrases.
This person has a body and a mind just like me.
This person has feelings,
Thoughts and emotions just like me.
This person has during his or her life experienced physical and emotional pain and suffering just like me.
This person has at some point been sad just like me.
This person has experienced disappointment in life just like me.
This person has been hurt by others just like me.
This person has felt unworthy or inadequate at times just like me.
