How do we keep our enthusiasm alive in spiritual practice when the mind wanders and old habits pull us back? In this warm and practical talk, Satyanarayana Dasa Babaji offers simple and time-tested answers drawn from the Vaishnava tradition. Using the beautiful example of melons ripening together on the same vine, Babaji explains that association is the single most powerful factor in maintaining enthusiasm. When we surround ourselves with those who are genuinely practicing, their energy naturally influences and uplifts us. He also recommends regular hearing of spiritual talks, reading, japa, and especially reading the stories of contemporary devotees — ordinary people from simple backgrounds who struggled and yet made remarkable spiritual progress. These stories inspire because they feel real and close to our own experience. This talk is short, direct, and deeply encouraging for anyone who has ever felt their spiritual motivation wavering or wondered how to build lasting confidence.

How do we maintain.

Our enthusiasm and our bhakti sadhana.

You have to associate with somebody who is enthusiastic.

In Hindu,

They're the same.

When you look at a melon,

It changes color.

It says that you know this melon So they grow on creeper.

Have you seen how they grow?

So they say that when one becomes ripe,

Another one next to it sees it also becomes ripe.

That's influenced.

So,

Association is important for enthusiasm.

Otherwise our mind wanders here and there.

And then we tend to go back to our old habits.

So that's a good solution.

Hearing is another one.

If you hear that influences the mind.

Practicing.

And does that work also with confidence in our bhakti as well?

Yeah,

I'm in association.

Gives.

How do you get confidence?

Confidence means you have Shraddha.

It comes also by association.

So that's very important.

Especially in the beginning stage.

Once you become stable,

Then you can continue.

But in the beginning mind.

.

.

It brings out many anarthas because of the past habits.

And then you have past friends so they influence you It's a good association.

And listening.

Spiritual lectures,

Studying.

In Japan.

Very important,

Give them.

You like kirtan,

Right?

Yes.

So that's good.

It's at the different margin.

Also reading the stories of great devotees.

Especially of recent time devotees.

Stories which are in the Shastra,

They are old.

They are also inspiring,

But when you hear about somebody in the recent history,

How they became great devotees or they came from simple background and they struggled.

So these are very inspiring stories of contemporary devotees.

For hearing about them.

This is also a type of association.

That inspires us.

And hear about others.

Then you feel like I also should do this.
