Welcome to this guided body scan meditation.
This practice is an invitation to bring awareness to different parts of your body,
Promoting relaxation,
Presence and mindfulness.
Allow this to be a journey of deep connection with your physical self.
Find a comfortable position either lying down on a soft surface or seated in a relaxed posture.
If you feel comfortable,
Close your eyes.
If not,
You can maintain a soft gaze.
Begin by taking three deep breaths.
Inhale deeply,
Drawing in fresh energy and awareness.
Exhale slowly,
Letting go of any tension or distractions.
Let your breathing return to its natural rhythm.
Now,
Draw your attention to the crown of your head.
Without judging or trying to change anything,
Simply notice any sensations present.
It might be warmth,
Coolness,
Tingling or even the absence of sensation.
Gently move your attention to your face.
Notice your forehead,
Eyes,
Cheeks and jaw.
Allow any tension to melt away as you breathe,
Particularly releasing any tightness in the jaw or in the furrows in the bra.
Travel down to your neck and shoulders.
Many of us hold stress here.
With each breath,
Imagine these muscles softening and releasing their burden.
Continue your journey down your arms all the way to your fingertips.
Feel the gentle pulse of your heartbeat in the tips of your fingers.
Bring your awareness to your chest and upper back.
Feel the rise and fall of your chest with each breath.
Notice the life force within you as your heart beats and your lungs expand.
Travel further down,
Bringing attention to your diaphragm,
Stomach and lower back.
Breathe into any areas of tightness or discomfort,
Sending them love and relaxation.
Shift your focus to your pelvis,
Hips and buttocks,
Feeling the support underneath you.
Allow these parts to feel heavy,
Grounded and relaxed.
Move your awareness down each leg,
Noticing your thighs,
Knees,
Calves and all the way down to your feet.
Imagine roots growing from your feet,
Anchoring you deeply into the earth.
Take a moment to feel your entire body as a whole,
From the crown of your head to the tips of your toes.
Relish in the sensation of being present,
Alive and connected.
As we conclude this body scan meditation,
Take a deep breath,
Infusing your entire body with energy and vitality.
Exhale,
Releasing any remaining tension.
Slowly start to deepen your breath,
Gently wiggling your fingers and toes,
Reconnecting with your surroundings.
When you're ready,
Open your eyes,
Bringing the sense of relaxation and presence into the rest of your day.
