Becoming a new mother is exciting and amazing,

And it can also bring with it many physical and emotional challenges.

We face new experiences and changes on a daily basis as we take care of this new life we've brought into the world.

By taking some time to ourselves,

We are better equipped to approach each day without expectation or overwhelm.

If you get interrupted during this meditation,

Simply pause the meditation and know that you can come back to it anytime.

Come into a comfortable position,

Either sitting or lying down,

And close your eyes.

Begin to notice your breathing.

Don't try to control your breath.

Simply notice as it comes in and out of your body.

Give yourself permission to take this time purely for you,

For your mind,

And for your body.

Let go of any expectations or to-do lists.

For the next couple of minutes,

Allow yourself to simply focus on your breathing from moment to moment,

And just listen to the sound of my voice.

Let your breath come in and out.

In and out.

In.

Thoughts might come into your mind,

And that's okay.

Simply let them pass through and return your attention to your body and your breathing.

Feel your breath come in and out.

In.

Take a mental scan of your body,

Beginning with the top of your head,

And then traveling down your body to your fingertips and your toes.

With each breath,

Allow your body to relax a little.

Breathe in a sense of peace,

And let yourself relax even more as you breathe out.

Allow yourself to savor these moments of calm,

Resting your mind and your body.

Know that you can connect with your breath at any time you need a little bit of peace throughout your day.

Take one more deep breath,

And gently open your eyes.
