This meditation is intended to make you communicate with your inner child and your future self.
So you can find more self-love,
Trust,
Acceptance,
And get some insight in which direction you should go.
So find a comfortable meditation posture,
Seated or lying down,
And if you're comfortable with it you can close your eyes,
Otherwise just keep a soft gaze.
Allow yourself to turn inwards and bring your awareness to your breath.
Just follow the natural rhythm of your inhalations and exhalations,
In and out of the body,
Feeling your natural breath,
Its pace,
Its depth,
The exact point of contact that the inhalation and the exhalation make with your body.
Allow the breath to be the sole object of your attention and every time you breathe feel yourself becoming a little bit more relaxed and peaceful,
Relaxing the body and relaxing your mind.
Now visualize yourself in a beautiful meadow on the hillside,
Feel the tall grass caressing your hips and your fingertips,
Feel the golden light of the sun on your skin and on the other side of that meadow you see a forest.
You start to walk towards that forest and follow a narrow path in the forest.
The sun is creating splashes of light patterning the floor of the forest.
Everything is peaceful,
Calm.
At some point you see a little cottage at the end of the path.
You walk towards the door and knock,
You hear a footstep inside of the cottage and an old lady is opening the door for you and she tells you,
I've been waiting for you for a long time you know,
Come on in.
She welcomes you inside and invites you to sit down in the main room where a little girl is playing with her toys.
She may be 5 years old or maybe a little bit older.
And so you bring your attention back to that old woman,
There's something about her that feels familiar,
Maybe it's her voice or her eyes,
It feels like you know her but you can't really pinpoint from where until you realize that this old lady is your future self.
She is warm and caring and so she tells you that she has something very important to tell you.
Something important not only for your present but also for your future so you can leave a meaningful,
Fulfilling and happy life.
So what does she tell you?
What insight or advice does she share with you?
Just listen to your future self and ask some questions if you have any,
Anything you'd like to know.
When she's done talking she looks at you with this warm smile and then she turns her eyes towards the child that is still playing in the corner of the room.
You follow her gaze and look at the little girl really for the first time and this is when you realize that this is your inner child.
She looks exactly like the pictures that you maybe saw of yourself in the family albums.
She's so innocent and joyful and she gazes up from what she's doing,
Give a cheeky smile to you and she stands up and sits on your lap and so you hold her,
You hug her,
Maybe rock her sideways.
Instantly you feel so much love and affection for this little girl.
You feel this visceral need to take care of her,
Protect her and cherish her.
So what do you need to tell your inner child?
What does your inner child need to hear?
What did she lack?
And that you can now give her,
It can be words of love,
Appreciation,
Gratitude,
You can tell her how proud you are of her,
How much you love her and even though you didn't always take care of her,
Now you're here,
You're here for her and you will give her whatever she needs and you will not abandon her.
Maybe you tell her that something that has been really waiting on her and on you is not her fault,
This is not her fault.
Send her love,
Acceptance,
Forgiveness.
Thank her for leading the way for you to become the woman that you are today and that you will be tomorrow.
Hold her tenderly towards your heart and then you feel the arms of your future self embracing the both of you and you stay there for a moment,
Just embracing each other,
Relishing each other's warmth,
Love and presence but then it's time to go and look at both of them and tell them one last time how much you love them and thank them profusely.
You give them each one last hug before they both guide you back towards the front door and if there is one last thing that you need to tell them or that you want to ask them before you leave,
Now is the time and then you part ways,
Wave at them one last time before they close the door and that you walk your way back in the forest.
All the colors look brighter,
The air feels warmer.
How do you feel in that moment?
Then you reach that meadow again,
Feeling the golden light on your skin and you just feel calm,
Happy and peaceful.
Lean into that feeling and then slowly allow that visualization to fade away.
Start to feel your environment again,
The surface beneath you,
The sounds around you.
You feel yourself moving back into here and now.
Gently start to deepen your breath and whenever you're ready you can gently start to move as if you were waking from a restful sleep and whenever you're ready you can gently open your eyes.
