Good morning.
Today is Tuesday,
November 24th,
2020.
Oh Lord,
Let my soul rise up to meet you as the day rises to meet the sun.
Glory to God,
The three in one,
Creator,
Redeemer,
And sustainer.
As it was in the beginning,
Is now,
And will be forever.
Amen.
Come let us bow down in worship.
Let us kneel before the Lord,
Our maker.
Remind yourself that you are in God's presence.
Notice how God may be speaking to you today.
Let yourself dwell on a word or a phrase that jumps out at you and let your heart respond to God in prayer.
Please repeat these words.
I will enter your gates with Thanksgiving.
I will dance in your courts with praise.
Psalm 65.
Oh God to you,
We owe him some praise in Zion.
To you,
Our vows must be fulfilled.
You who hear our prayers and before whom all flesh must stand.
When we are overcome by our sins,
You provide the atonement for them.
Happy are those you choose,
Those who draw near to dwell in your courts.
We are filled with the blessings of your house,
The holy things of your temple.
With powerful deeds of justice,
You answer us.
God,
Our deliverer,
In whom all the ends of the earth and the farthest seas put their trust.
You set the mountains in place by your power,
Having armed yourself with might.
You still the roaring of the seas,
The roaring of the waves,
The roaring of the waves,
The tumult of the peoples.
And those who dwell at the ends of the earth stand in awe of your marvels.
You make the sunrise and sunset shout for joy.
You nourish and water the land.
Greatly you have enriched it.
The streams of God are full of water.
You provide us with grain as you ordained.
Thus have you prepared the land drenching its furrows,
Breaking up its clods,
Softening it with showers,
Blessing its yield.
You have crowned the year with your bounty and your paths overflow with a rich harvest.
The untilled meadows overflow with abundance and rejoicing clothes the hills.
The fields are covered with flocks and the valleys are blanketed with grain.
They shout and sing for joy.
Please repeat these words.
I will enter your gates with thanksgiving.
I will dance in your courts with praise.
Oh,
Eternal one,
We come before you with gratitude.
Of all people,
We have been inordinately blessed with bounty and a standard of living which the world has never seen.
We thank you so much for which to be thankful.
We thank you for plentiful food.
We thank you for homes which are warm in winter and cool in summer.
We thank you for expansive land and stunning beauty.
We thank you for work and leisure.
We thank you for family and friends.
We thank you for blessings we have many concerns.
Each day brings casualties and tales of sadness and grief.
We ask your blessing and care for all who suffer,
All who grieve,
And all whose lives are shattered.
We ask you to be a better world and bring to the violent restraint,
Temper the world's hatreds,
And bring us peace.
In moments when we would shrink back from the challenges of life to be your people and to reach out and care for others,
Bring an appropriate soberness to our spirits.
May we ask,
When did I see you in the guise of the homeless and failed to help you?
May we ask,
When did I see you sick or in prison and fail to meet your needs?
May we ask,
When did we see you a victim of war or disaster and fail to come to your aid?
May we ask,
What,
Oh God,
Do you require of us who have been so blessed?
Oh God,
Help us to respond to the Jesus in our neighbor and to serve you.
In the name of Jesus who taught us to pray.
Our Father which art in heaven,
Eternal God,
Earth maker,
Pain bearer,
Life giver,
Source of all that is and all that shall be,
Not only Father but Mother of us all.
May the Halloween of your name echo through the universe.
May the way of your justice be followed by the peoples of the world.
May your heavenly will be done by all created beings.
May your commonwealth of peace and freedom sustain our hope and come on earth.
With the bread we need for today,
Feed us.
In the hurts we absorb from one another,
Forgive us.
In times of temptation and test,
Strengthen us.
From trials too great to endure,
Spare us.
From the grip of all that is evil,
Free us.
For you reign in the glory of the power that is love now and forever.
Amen.
And now my friends made a piece of the Lord Jesus Christ go with you wherever he may send you today.
He guide you through the wilderness,
Protect you through the storm.
May he bring you home rejoicing at the wonders he has shown you.
May he bring you home rejoicing.
Once again into our doors.
Go in peace.
