Hello,
And welcome to Monday Meditation.
Today we're going to be doing another verse meditation,
This time on 2 Corinthians 10 5.
But first,
As always,
We'll get started with your spine upright and supported and your gaze soft ahead of you.
Bring your attention to your breath and take a few deep breaths in and out.
And with the next out breath,
Close your eyes.
Bring your attention to your surroundings.
Feel the seat underneath you.
Let any sounds around you come and go.
Feel the temperature of the room.
Notice if there are any smells.
Now bring your attention to your body.
Take a moment to scan down from head to toe.
Noticing any sensations,
Any comfort or discomfort,
Pain,
Heaviness or lightness,
Any sensation that you're feeling today.
Next,
Take a moment to check in with your emotions.
How are you feeling today?
Don't judge,
Just notice.
Now bring your attention back to your breath.
Take a few moments to focus on the inhale and the exhale.
On the inhale,
Notice your body expanding.
Feel where the breath comes in,
Whether that's the nose,
The throat,
Chest or the stomach.
Just pay attention to wherever you feel the breath.
On the exhale,
Feel your body contract and relax.
On each exhale,
Try to relax a little bit more.
So there's no tension remaining in your body.
Now we'll move on to the first meditation.
If you want to read along with me,
You can open your Bibles or a Bible app to 2 Corinthians 10 5.
Or you can keep your eyes closed and just listen.
I'm reading out of the English Standard Version today.
We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God and take every thought captive to obey Christ.
We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God and take every thought captive to obey Christ.
We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God and take every thought captive to obey Christ.
If you've been reading along,
This time close your eyes or lower your gaze and just listen for this last reading.
We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God and take every thought captive to obey Christ.
Now take a few moments to meditate on this verse.
Let any thoughts arise,
See them,
Note them and let them go.
If you become distracted,
You can bring your attention back to the verse.
You want to open your eyes and look at the verse,
You can.
Or you can bring your attention back to your breath.
Now bring your attention back to your body.
Feel the weight of your body pressing down on the seat beneath you.
Notice your surroundings,
What sounds are coming and going in the room around you.
And when you're ready,
Gently open your eyes.
As you go about your day,
Try to notice any thoughts you need to take captive in order to obey Christ.
Are there negative thoughts about yourself?
Negative thoughts you have about a situation you're going through?
Negative thoughts about those around you?
Try to take all of these thoughts captive and replace them with positive thoughts,
Preferably those from God's Word.
I hope to see you next time.
Thanks and God bless.
