The Fairies of Marigold Mound Minty Saves the Night The Fairies of Marigold Mound Minty Saves the Night In the magical kingdom of Ascaria,

A small fairy named Minty lived in a lush forest.

Her hair was bright green,

Like spring leaves,

And her eyes sparkled like emeralds.

She wore a dress made of orange autumn leaves that she had sewn together with spider silk.

Her wings shone with tiny rainbows as she fluttered joyfully among the flowers and trees.

Minty loved to make things from the colourful leaves she found in the forest.

One day,

She decided to weave a scarf and a hat from the most vibrant autumn leaves.

She carefully selected leaves of red,

Gold and orange,

Stitching them together with fine silk threads.

She sang a soft tune as she worked.

La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la to Queen Petunia.

They didn't understand why Minty often napped during the day or seemed distracted.

What they didn't know was that Minty loved exploring the forest at night.

She would sneak out to admire night-blooming flowers like moonflowers and evening primroses and to watch nocturnal animals like fireflies,

Owls and hedgehogs.

To avoid being seen,

She would disguise herself as a small beetle,

Using her weaving skills to blend into the night.

She expertly wove disguises out of leaves,

Creating beetle-like patterns that allowed her to blend in with the other creatures that lived in the forest.

On the eastern side of the forest stood Marigold Mound,

The charming home of the fairies.

The mound was a small hill covered in a blanket of bright marigold flowers on the outside,

Their golden colours creating a warm,

Inviting glow.

A small sparkling pond lay in front of the mound,

Where forest animals came to drink water and bathe.

The pond's clear waters mirrored the sky,

Surrounded by lush green reeds and delicate wildflowers.

Inside the mound was a grand hall where the fairies gathered every evening.

The hall was decorated with delicate flower garlands and glowing mushrooms that cast a soft,

Magical light.

Here the fairies shared their day's news and drank sweet nectar from the delicate flower goblets.

They danced to the music of chirping crickets,

And sometimes Daisy the Lark joined them,

Singing beautiful songs for Queen Petunia and the fairies.

The fairies would hold hands and dance around the grand hall until they were dizzy with laughter.

As the sun set,

Daisy would bow deeply to Queen Petunia,

Spread his beautiful yellow and brown speckled wings,

And wave goodnight to the fairies before flying up to his favourite branch in an old oak tree to sleep for the night.

When the festivities ended,

The fairies would disperse down the passages leading from the grand hall to their cosy bedrooms.

Each bedroom had a hammock woven from fine,

Intertwined vines and lined with a thick,

Soft layer of velvety moss.

Draped over the moss were blankets made from the finest feathers,

Which the fairies collected from the woodland birds.

The feather blankets were incredibly soft and warm.

One night,

When all the fairies had drifted off to sleep in their hammocks,

Minty gathered her beetle suit and quietly crept through the passages of Marigold Mound.

She moved with the utmost care,

Her heart pounding with the thrill of her secret adventure.

When she reached the magical door to her home,

She whispered the enchanted words,

Maliaka natu,

And the door opened without making a sound.

Once outside,

She whispered again,

Maliaka eina,

And the door silently closed behind her.

Careful not to make a sound,

Minty slipped on her beetle suit,

And then she tiptoed down the path that led from Marigold Mound to the pond,

Choosing to walk rather than fly.

Her wings were beautiful and sparkly,

And they would certainly give her away if anyone saw their shimmering light.

She dared not be caught outside Marigold Mound after dark,

It was strictly forbidden.

Queen Petunia always said it was too dangerous.

When she reached the pond,

She found a lotus leaf that had come off its stem a few days earlier.

She climbed onto it,

And using a small branch,

She began to paddle herself across the pond,

The water rippling gently under her makeshift boat.

The night was calm and quiet,

With the moon casting a silvery glow over the water.

She felt a sense of excitement as she ventured out into the night.

As she paddled,

Minty thought about the nightflowers she would visit.

She loved to admire the moonflowers and the evening primrose,

And smell their sweet fragrance in the cool night air.

In her adventures she often saw foxes stealthily prowling through the underbush,

Their eyes gleaming with curiosity.

The owls glided silently overhead,

Their wings barely making a sound.

The hedgehogs scuttled about,

Their quills glistening in the moonlight as they went about their nightly foraging.

Each corner of the forest had its unique features.

Sometimes she would find a hidden grove where mushrooms glowed softly,

Creating magical fairy rings.

Other times she would visit the small waterfall cascading into the crystal-clear pool,

The waters shimmering with reflections of the stars above.

Minty smiled to herself,

Feeling a sense of freedom and adventure that she could find only in the quiet secret hours of the night.

She continued to paddle across the pond,

Her beetle disguise keeping her hidden from any who might be watching.

This was her special time,

A world all of her own filled with magic and mystery.

When she reached the other side of the pond she climbed off her leaf boat and made her way into the dark forest.

Walking silently along in the moon shadows she came to a clearing where the fireflies performed their nightly dance,

But something was different tonight.

As Minty stood in the eerie silence of the forest clearing,

Her senses heightened by the unnatural silence.

The usual sounds of the forest were quiet.

The chirping of the crickets,

The rustling of the leaves and the song of the toads were absent.

Even the enchanting dance of the fireflies,

Which usually filled the clearing with their bright glow,

Was nowhere to be seen.

A sense of fear gripped Minty's heart as she scanned the shadowy surroundings,

Her eyes straining to pierce the darkness.

Her instincts screamed at her to flee back to the safety of Marigold Mound.

Yet before she could take a step,

A large woven sack descended from above and swiftly enveloped her in its suffocating embrace.

The sack was dark and rough,

Its texture scraped against her delicate skin as she wriggled and squirmed inside it.

Fear coursed through Minty's veins as she was hoisted upwards.

She felt herself being carried away,

The sack swaying gently with the huge steps of her unseen captain.

Panic gripped her as the sack was finally dropped and she was roughly thrown into a small cage woven from sharp tiger grass stalks.

The cage door slammed shut with a finality that sent shivers down her spine.

Out of the cage,

Minty trembled,

Her eyes wide with terror as she stared up at the huge gnarly creature.

The strangest insect I ever saw,

The creature muttered,

Its foul breath wafting over Minty as it looked at her.

I'm not an insect,

Minty cried out desperately,

But the creature couldn't hear her small voice.

Seems a bit small to roast,

The creature rumbled,

Scratching its head,

But maybe it'll be tasty in a potato.

Anyways,

I've caught enough things tonight for King Orlok,

Time to eat me potatoes and get some sleep.

Minty watched in horror as the massive creature sat beside a large fir tree and devoured a huge sack of potatoes.

Each potato disappeared into the creature's mouth with alarming speed,

Its rotting teeth tearing into the soft flesh.

Minty huddled in the cage,

Overwhelmed by fear and despair.

The creature finished its dinner and soon its snoring filled the air as it fell into a deep sleep.

Alone and trapped,

Minty only hoped that somehow,

Someone would come to rescue her before it was too late.

Trapped inside the rough-woven cage,

Her heart sank even further until a soft,

Comforting voice broke through the darkness.

Don't cry my dear,

There has to be a way out of this,

The voice reassured her from the nearby cage.

Minty's ears poked up,

Listening intently.

Who are you?

Minty managed to stammer,

Her voice trembling with fear and confusion.

I am Lucy,

The frog,

Said Lucy.

There's Rupert the snail and Joey the bat over there.

None of us expected it.

The creature came from a tunnel below the ground and captured us.

Minty's thoughts swirled with disbelief and fear.

She glanced around the darkened forest,

Her eyes adjusting to the dim light filtering through the canopy above.

Nearby she could make out the shapes of cages holding other imprisoned creatures,

Each one a victim of the mysterious underground creature.

What is this creature?

Minty whispered,

Her voice barely audible.

Why would it do such a thing?

It is a troll,

Joey the bat replied.

I heard about them from my grandma.

I didn't think they were real.

I thought she was just trying to tease me.

We don't know much about it.

It said it was taking us to King Orlock but I don't know who that is.

We have to find a way to escape,

Minty declared.

Lucy's eyes gleamed with newfound hope.

Yes,

We must,

She croaked softly.

Together we might have a chance.

As the night pressed on,

Minty and her new friends whispered plans and strategies for escape.

And then a soft voice echoed from the shadows above.

Ooh,

Ooh,

It called out cautiously.

Is it asleep?

Minty,

Unsure who she was speaking to,

Whispered back.

Yes,

It's asleep.

With a graceful descent,

Ophelia the owl landed nearby,

Her large,

Wise eyes scanning the surroundings.

I am Ophelia,

She introduced herself quietly.

I have been watching you for quite some time.

How can I help?

Relieved to have help,

Minty asked if Ophelia could open the cages.

Ophelia nodded confidently.

Her rough beak tore through the tough tiger grass,

Creating holes large enough for the trapped creatures to slip out into freedom.

Once free,

Minty,

Rupert and Lucy climbed onto Ophelia's back.

Ophelia lifted off gracefully,

Her silent wings carrying them to the top of a towering fir tree where they could hide safely from the creature below.

Joey the bat fluttered alongside them.

Looking down at the sleeping troll,

Minty formulated a plan.

I have an idea,

She whispered to her companions.

Do you see the bramble bush next to the sleeping troll?

I will sing a magical fairy song to it and ask it to reach out its long tendrils and trap the troll.

Ophelia,

Can you then fly me back to Murraygold Mound?

I must warn Queen Petunia and the other fairies.

Together we can figure out how to rid our forest of this threat.

Ophelia nodded solemnly.

I will help you,

She assured Minty.

With determination in her heart,

Minty began to sing.

Her voice carried the ancient melody of the forest,

Weaving magic into the night air.

The bramble bush stirred at her song,

Its tendrils stretching out and curling around the slumbering troll below,

Ensnaring him securely without waking him up.

Once the troll was all wrapped up in the bramble vines,

Ophelia hurriedly carried Minty back to Murraygold Mound.

Joey,

Rupert and Lucy remained hidden in the tree to keep watch on the troll.

Ophelia landed softly outside Murraygold Mound and Minty sang the sacred song to open the magical door.

Wake up,

Wake up,

She shouted as she rang the bell that normally announced their dinner time.

Tired sleepy fairies came hurrying down the passages,

Shocked and surprised to see what appeared to be a beetle and an owl standing in the grand hall.

Minty wasted no time recounting their harrowing ordeal and detailing the threat lurking in the forest.

Queen Petunia listened intently,

Her brow farrowed with concern.

The fairies murmured among themselves,

Confused and afraid.

What should they do,

They wondered.

Should they cast a shinking spell on the troll and make him small?

Or perhaps a forgetting spell so he wouldn't remember why he had come to the forest?

Minty thought and thought.

The other fairies buzzed around her,

Their tiny wings shimmering in the moonlight.

The troll was massive and had already caused enough trouble for the entire forest.

They needed a solution quickly.

Why don't we make friends with him,

She suggested,

Her voice breaking the anxious silence.

That way we will have his loyalty and he can warn us or protect us if any other trolls from King Orlok's kingdom come here.

The other fairies gasped in surprise at the bold idea.

They'd never thought of befriending a troll,

Especially one as fearsome as this,

But Minty's eyes sparkled with determination.

I like your thinking,

Minty,

Smiled Queen Petunia,

Her regal wings flattering gently.

But what if the troll doesn't want to be our friend?

How can we make sure that your idea works?

Minty thought some more,

Her tiny brows furrowing in concentration.

We could make him a friendship bracelet,

She suggested after a moment.

We could enchant it with magic so that he can hear us and understand our intentions.

If we show kindness to him,

He will be grateful and show kindness back.

The fairies nodded in agreement,

Murmuring their approval.

Queen Petunia's eyes softened with pride.

It would be helpful to have his friendship,

She said,

As being friends is always the best option.

Right,

Minty,

How do we make a friendship bracelet?

We need vines,

Said Minty,

Her voice growing more confident.

Lots of very long vines.

We'll need some acorns and coloured feathers.

We'll make him the most beautiful friendship bracelet he has ever seen.

Well,

We had best get to work,

Queen Petunia gave the order,

Her voice firm and decisive.

The fairies all dashed out into the night,

Their wings buzzing with excitement and purpose.

They scattered across the forest gathering the finest vines,

The most beautiful feathers and the largest acorns they could find.

Back at Marigold Mound,

Minty showed her friends how to weave a very large bracelet with acorns and beautiful feathers for decoration.

The bracelet grew bigger and more intricate with every passing moment.

Then Queen Petunia sprinkled fairy dust over the finished bracelet,

Its magical glow lighting up their faces.

And the fairies all sang the friendship song.

Their voices blended harmoniously,

Echoing through the forest and filling the night with the melody of hope and unity.

In friendship's glow,

We'll take flight Guided by love,

Our bonds so tight Friends are like the stars at night Shining bright with pure delight Hand in hand we'll never part Together always heart to heart In friendship's glow,

We'll take flight Guided by love,

Our bonds so tight In friendship's glow,

We'll take flight Guided by love,

Our bonds so tight When that was done,

Queen Petunia spoke the magic words into the bracelet.

Let the troll understand our words and hear our voices,

She said,

Her voice echoing with magic and power.

And when the bracelet was ready,

All the fairies gathered in a long line and picked it up.

Then they flew out into the forest to where the sleeping troll lay.

The moon cast a silvery glow over the forest,

Guiding their way.

And when they reached the troll,

He was still fast asleep,

Snugly wrapped up in the brambles.

Ever so quietly,

The fairies came closer to the troll and tied the bracelet around his wrist.

The bracelet shimmered and sparkled,

The magic words taking effect.

Wake up,

Queen Petunia ordered.

Slowly the troll began to open his eyes.

His confusion turned to surprise as he saw all the fairies fluttering around in front of him.

He tried to swat them away,

But alas,

He could not move because the brambles were holding him tightly.

Aaaaah!

Shouted the troll,

His voice booming through the forest.

Let me go!

What's your name,

Troll?

Queen Petunia bravely demanded,

Her tiny form radiating courage.

My name is Biff,

Said the troll,

Amazed that he could understand what was being said to him.

Let me go!

He shouted again,

Though his voice held more curiosity than anger now.

You have come to our forest uninvited,

Biff,

And you have captured our friends.

You have been unkind to us,

But,

In return,

We have made you a friendship bracelet.

Do you see it on your wrist?

Asked Queen Petunia.

Biff suddenly became aware of the bracelet.

Aaaaah!

Said Biff.

What is this?

It is pretty.

We call it a friendship bracelet,

Said Queen Petunia,

And if you accept our gift,

Then it means you will become our friend.

Do you know what a friend is,

Biff?

Queen Petunia asked,

Her eyes kind and understanding.

What is that?

Inquired Biff.

His voice softer now.

He had never heard of friendship before.

Trolls don't have any friends.

If you want to keep the bracelet,

Then you have to be kind to all the creatures who live in this forest.

You have to protect us and not tell anyone we are here,

And,

In return,

We will be kind to you.

Do you want to be friends,

Biff?

I like to have friends,

Said Biff,

A smile spreading across his large face.

Trusting that Biff would keep his word,

Queen Petunia ordered the bramble bush to release him.

The bramble slowly unwound,

Setting Biff free.

I have friends,

Said Biff,

As he stood up and began to dance,

Hopping from one foot to another.

Yippee!

Yippee for friends!

Biff will be a good friend,

You will see.

Hooray,

Sang all the fairies,

And they began to dance in a circle around him.

The crickets then began to play their lively tunes,

And everyone danced until they were tired.

The forest buzzed with happiness and a newfound sense of unity.

The stars twinkled above,

Witnessing the birth of an unlikely friendship,

And the moon smiled down on them all,

Casting a gentle yellow glow over their joyful celebration.

The fairies and Biff celebrated,

Dancing and singing until dawn.

From that night on,

Biff and the fairies became good friends,

Showing that kindness and understanding could create magical friendships.

And so,

The magical kingdom of Ascaria remained a place of joy and harmony,

With Minty's bravery reminding everyone that even the smallest fairy could make a big difference.

The End Thank you friends,

And we will see you again for Minty's next adventure.

Good night!

Bye!
