Find a quiet place and take a deep breath.

Begin by acknowledging your feelings to God.

I want you to whisper to him,

Lord,

I bring my pain and my anger to you.

I don't want to carry this anymore.

As you breathe in,

Imagine God's love filling your heart.

As you breathe out,

Picture the resentment leaving your body.

Remember these words from Ephesians 4 31 to 32.

Get rid of all bitterness,

Rage,

And anger,

Brawling and slander along with every form of malice.

Be kind and compassionate to one another,

Forgiving each other just as in Christ God forgave you.

Think about the forgiveness God has shown to you.

Let his grace wash over you.

Say to yourself,

Lord,

You have forgiven me for so much.

Please help me forgive others just as you forgave me.

Now picture the person or the situation or whatever it is that you resent.

Imagine handing their offense to God.

You don't have to hold it anymore.

You just have to let God handle it.

Let's finish this meditation with a prayer as you take a few more deep breaths,

Feeling that resentment leaving with every breath out.

Father,

I release this hurt to you.

Help me forgive as you have forgiven me.

Please fill my heart with love and compassion and replace my bitterness with your peace.

Amen.
